We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Omari Grampus . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Omari below.
Alright, Omari thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Like most artist, my creative path was born from heartbreak. Dealing with a troubled relationship I decided to write my feelings down on paper and it blossomed into a song. I had shared it with close friends and one of them knew of a studio that I could record it in. At first it was just for fun and never thought that it would take me to where I am now, but I feel in love with the process of making music after my first session and knew it was something I could pursue. It wasn’t until a month later when I watched one of my favorite artist preform in concert that I had mentally told myself “I can do this”. The energy of the crowd and passion of the artist persuaded me that making music and reaching the hearts and minds of people is what I want to do professionally.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started recording music in 2019 with a goal in mind to connect with listeners and remind them that they weren’t alone in life. My main genres are R&B, Soul & Hip-Hop. As my music career progresses my goal is to continue to inspire and connect with fans and listeners. I strives to be known as an artist who creates beautiful, fun and sensible records that can uplift or enhance the mood of its listener. As an avid music lover myself I have personally witnessed music change my life as well as propel me through numerous life situations, both good or bad.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect is being able to watch nothing turn into something. Being able to take a small idea that turns into writing then turns into a full piece of music brings me great joy. I’m able to translate my feelings into words that can connect with others. Seeing others listen to my music and say they understand or felt connected is also very rewarding for me.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Staying consistent is key. I’m still striving to build my audience and for many artist, we understand that it’s not the easiest to do. I always want to stay original and focus on being myself when releasing content for others to see. Another piece of advice is to post your content more than once. A lot of upcoming artist will get discouraged because the post doesn’t do the numbers they would like, but even if only 100 people see your post, that’s a potential of having 100 new fans.I believe if you keep posting/ advertising your work, eventually the numbers your look for will organically happen.
