We were lucky to catch up with Omar Qassim Kaisi recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Omar Qassim, thanks for joining us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
As a 23 year old today I can say my career as an “Artist” started at the right time, in Gods time. Before I was even conscious of being an “Artist” I always knew that there was something about me I thought was super natural. My love for creation. As a kid I’d draw, paint and devour books which had everything to do with the complex matters of the human mind, body & soul. Because of such interests my work has always been inspired by everything that comes from within, what I feel, my thoughts and everything around me which will then be translated in whichever art form I see necessary- a good example of perfect timing is my writing, after experiencing my greatest tragedy of losing both my parents God woke something in me, a literary ambition I never knew I had which only became apparent to me 3 years ago
Omar Qassim, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
According to my pre school report card, my teachers praised my love for telling stories, I’d gather all the children around for a sermon, delight them with tales from dawn till dusk. From there my Fate had been determined. All I’ve ever wanted is a voice that will be heard. There were times in my childhood when perhaps because I had been raised among books I despised I thought and dreamed of writing my own, becoming a novelist or some spiritual scribe whose sole purpose was to write complex matters of of the heart and soul. Years later I’m proud to say the never ending journey has begun after publishing my first book “A LONG WAY TO GO CANT DIE NOW” I’m determined and excited to finish the second masterpiece.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the journey. It’s beautiful, especially when it gets hard and you somehow find the strength and faith to continue, overcoming adversity and finishing a project is a gift. I believe by creating something beautiful, I exhibit the greatness of GOD, My creator
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The Mission here is completing my Life’s task. Doing everything within my power to show the greatness of God. Whether it’s showing it through a beautifully composed book, or delicately crafting myself in becoming everything Im in control of- being a masterpiece, Gods creation.
