We were lucky to catch up with Omar Mora recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Omar thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.

I was born and raised in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, I studied medicine in Guadalajara, Mexico. Then I moved to New York City for my medical residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. After I witnessing the tragedy of September 11th I decided life was too short not to do everything I wanted, so I decided to pursue my dream of acting and filmmaker. While a resident in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Saint Vincent’s Hospital in New York, I enrolled as a student in the two-year acting program at The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. After finishing both, I moved to Los Angeles to continue both careers. Since relocating, I’ve been building a solid résumé in the independent film world as I started my private medical practice.

In 2012, I started writing and opened my production company Moras Productions. The company’s first short film, A Busy Mind, was distributed by PBS in 2014, and its first feature film, 30 Days with My Brother had a theatrical release (limited) through AMC Theaters across the nation. The movie got release as well on cable VOD (Time Warner Cable) and online VOD release in 2016. We also produced a comic book series called The Unearthians and it was released on July 17th, 2019 at San Diego Comic-Con. Our second feature film, Inside the Circle, was released in September 2021 Worldwide on VOD. My latest work, the updated version hybrid novel / comic book Ancient Explorers: The Lost City of Peru was released digitally in 2022.

At this moment I’m working on launching a Kickstarter campaign for the trade (Graphic novel) of The Unearthians, more than 330 pages of comic book pure action story. Also I’m packaging my next future film Looking For God. I’m a proud member of SAG-AFTRA and the Producer’s Guild Of America.

To added to my passions I’m about to launch my skincare product line called Riqen, based on the latest technology on Regenerative Medicine. And I’m also working in a start-up AI Software company.

Life goes fast, so I want to do everything I want to do without asking permission or not been afraid on doing things that I’m passionate about.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Adding to to the previous question. I have different careers that I’m passionate about and I’ve been able to mage the time and energy between all of them in harmony and efficiently.

In regards of medical practice I work mostly treating musculoskeletal pain and regenerative medicine. With the knowledge I acquired doing regenerative medicine and my entrepreneur spirit I decided to bring a skincare product that use that same technology to rejuvenate our skin. And that’s how RIQEN SkinCare born and we are about to launch very soon.

In regards of Moras Productions we are telling stories that I personally want to see on the big screen and small screen. We tell stories from drama, Rom-Con to Sci-Fi stories. At this moment we’re packaging a film called Looking For God. It’s a Sci-Fi Thriller that tell the stories of one Physicist and one Anthropologist looking for the fifth dimension and the existence of God. A well stablished production company is helping me on packaging the film. We also are about to launch later this year a Kickstarter campaign for the trade of our comic book called The Unearthians. The Unearthians was named one of the best indie comics at Los Angeles Comic-Con in 2019.

Pursuing my love to bring ideas to reality I’m developing an AI software for small and medium business. We created this Start-Up company and we in early stages on the development. You’ll here more about it in the near future.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

With all the businesses I have, my main goal is to serve and make a better life, as much as possible as I can, for all of us.

For example with my medical practice my main goal is to treat pain with a more natural approach and using our own body’s power to heal. That’s why I believe in regenerative medicine. Although is a big challenge as insurance doesn’t cover almost no treatments with regenerative medicine. But my goal is to bring this treatments to the knowledge of patients so they know there’re other alternatives other than pain medications.

My goal with Moras Productions is to entertain and bring positive messages with my movies, books and comic books. Having a healthy mind is as important or more important as having a healthy body. Both goes hand to hand. And with Moras Productions I can accomplish that.

Riqen Skin Care. Well I’m very passionate about skincare. Taking care of our body’s is very important and in this case our faces. The face to me is the presentation to the word. Taking care of it naturally and using regenerative medicine technology is a win. You’re going to use your own regenerative and healing skin process to look your best, To bring the youthful in you. Looking our best and feeling good is always a priority to me. And with RIQEN I will bring that feeling.

And last, the AI software I’m working on is something that will help greatly small and medium business. At this moment I can’t talk to much about it, but is something definitely we’re going to use a lot!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect to be a creative is the freedom of expression and the freedom of doing what I like to do. Bringing ideas to reality is one of the most rewarding and wholeness experience this life can give you. And meeting great people through that process is amazing and very fulfilling.

I feel that if every soul in this planet can express themselves as the best version of themselves I’ll guarantee you that most of the problem on this world, like power, envy, wars, greed, jealousy will be eradicated.

When you fulfill your soul, with whatever you want, I believe you’ll have no space for negative actions against you and other fellow humans.
