Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Omar Dominguez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Omar, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
At Spicy Consulting we have a solid mission: To make food businesses successful! I have had the opportunity to work in very successful companies through out my career, and I always thrived to learn from them about what makes every one of those companies a success, so in my obsession to learn from these people I kept in my mind all the advice, the experiences I saw and everything that could help me to be a better entrepreneur, but even more important how I can share that knowledge and great experiences with whoever needed it to grow their business, I always feel like I have to share all this knowledge, for some reason I feel like I have to help and support people in this hard path of entrepreneurship.
Besides that, I have a very special and unique purpose in my life, I’m working hard to build a solid company, an empire for my family, I have a little princess with Down Syndrome that has changed my life for good, she’s a very smart and happy girl that one day will want to work and in that moment I will have at least 2 options for her to put all her talent, Spicy Consulting and Crown Alfajores,
I push myself to deliver the best to my clients, as a consultant my main focus is to help them succeed and thrive in every area I can and as father my main focus is to assure I can set a better world for my family, the combination of these two elements are what makes me tireless and the reason why i try to be the best at what i do, my family and my clients are the biggest inspiration to work as hard as I do.
Crown Alfajores is another company I own with my wife and our kids spend time working with us so they can learn from early years good work ethic and how working hard you can get the life you want, we thrive to set a good example for them.
I try my best everyday to help companies to be successful.

Omar, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I came from Veracruz Mexico, around 20 years ago, my first job just like a big part of the Hispanic community was dishwasher and cleaning tables, I was fortunate enough to start in one of the busiest restaurants in Utah back in the day (and probably today too) so to me it was like going to restaurant college, I learned not only the right secrets to serve large crowds but also the speed, the taste, the do’s and dont’s, the secrets to create loyalty in your clients, how to build solid teams and most important how to control and manage your sales, your money.
Long story short, I learned very good everything about how to “run” the restaurant, from purchasing to sales, any management aspect and started executing this level of excellence in every company I went to work for, having the opportunity to learn from big personalities from the industry, around 15 years after I started I saw myself unemployed, looking for job and had my “aha” moment one day filling out an application and when I read the question “experience” I thought that I have so much knowledge and passion in this industry that I could start helping restaurants instead of work for one… or two; so I started Spicy Consulting with only one service, secret shopping, then when started getting customers they were asking for social media management so I learned how to do it to offer that service too, now we have several other services such as our own delivery platform, BOT marketing for restaurants, licensing process for startups i n the food industry like food trucks, ghost kitchens etc, restaurant talent acquisition.
I believe something that has helped me to grow has been the attention to detail and the ability to empathize with my clients, I really try to understand what they need and how to improve their situation or grow the business, one thing I do everyday is to ask myself what can I do to help my clients to be successful, or to be a better company, that simple exercise has helped me to keep my clients happy for a long time.
I’m very proud to be part of a lot of small companies that started as a dream and now I can see their products in some grocery store shelves, or see some restaurants being successful, or to see food trucks I helped to start now. booking large events, or go to restaurants and have some cooks come to say hi to me because I helped them to get that job, that makes me so happy and so humble at the same time for having the opportunity to serve my community and make a living at the same time, that is so rewarding to me.
So if you have a product you want to sell, or an idea for a food truck, are looking to start your own ghost kitchen, if you are paying too much in delivery fees or if you need to start your food business and don’t know how to start. let me know! that’s the area where I can help you to start or grow your business.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I have a podcast and radio show in Utah, that has been the best way for me to give value to my market, this way I can show people my knowledge and also my expertise, something else that helps me is that I only help food businesses, so in some cases I have prospects or even friends approaching to help them in other areas out of my expertise and I say “I can’t”, and that is because I feel to deliver the right results I only focus in my area, there is where I can bring the best results and value, I also have used the same tactic on social media, all my content is related to my career, all related to food business problems and their solutions, all related to how to grow your business, and also some advice focused on that part of the community that wants to start a food business and feels a little lost about how and where to start, one of the areas where I found more results when driving prospects to me is when I talk about that point right after you start the business and before the big numbers start to come, when you have sales enough to survive but not enough to thrive, that area is where people needs more advice but at the time where there is a lack of content in social media and internet. Another strategy that works very well is that I go straight to my clients and ask if they can recommend my services to someone they know who may need my services, being a good person has been very effective in my business, that way people can recommend you constantly to other potential customers.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I’m always looking for growth opportunities for my clients, doesn’t matter if they were my clients 2 years ago or last month, I’m always in the search for them to grow, one of my most important activities everyday is to look for ways to re sell to the clients I already have, these days is easier to sell to your clients more services than get new customers so I try to find something that can be valuable for them. Social media is very important in this matter, that has been the best way to consistently be in touch with my potential clients and also with people interested in my industry that may not be clients now but due to the consistency they will be in the future.
This is for me the most effective way to stay in touch with my clients, because they always feel like they need me for several things and also this way I’m always fresh in their minds.
