We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Olyveya Mazier a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Olyveya, appreciate you joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
At the age of 14 I took the risk of deciding to choose ballet as my career path, Ballet can be tricky as you are not guaranteed anything – a job, career, earning a living… many people have to give up once they hit the age of 18-22 due to not being able to earn a living, however this poses a problem as many give up their education and are left without a good high school learning experience.
I was one of those people, I was unable to finish my schooling. However thankfully I was brought up as a homeschooled kid and had advanced quickly earlier on, so I was able to take the risk and choose dance over schooling. All of this to say although ultimately I went down a different career path, choosing to study Classical Ballet was a great experience from which I learned so much which I can now apply to jobs, business, and life as a whole.
Ballet taught me discipline and detail among many other things. One other huge takeaway is to never stray from the end goal, if you have a dream in mind but it seems unachievable what you need to do is figure out – relating to that dream goal, what is one step that you can take now, today, which will bring you closer to that end goal? Do that step, and keep doing those steps with that mindset, break down the steps to very simple basic steps if you need to. And if you keep up that approach, one day you will end up at where you dreamt of being.
The risk of choosing something which I had no knowing of whether or not it would be successful or even useful turned out to be one of the best decisions I made. I think If you truly like to do something, even if you’re unsure of how it can be helpful later on, do it anyways and the use for it will come to you. As long as you enjoy what you’re doing something amazing will eventually be born.

Olyveya, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started Pure a few months ago, around November of 2024 and hadn’t really pushed it or promoted it. My whole idea was I was tired of toxic products, specifically makeup, and wanted to have an option. It started out as me making makeup for myself, then realized there was a market for it.
I created my first product and successfully sold my first batch between December and January of 2024/25.
I kept it simple, transparent and clean. My first launching was of a lipgloss product which had minimal ingredients, minimal color, and was made for a shimmer but without the toxins. I realized early on that lipgloss is swallowed more than any other lip product as it is worn in larger quantities as it is more of a liquid, and a thick liquid which gets easily ingested.
My goal was to make it safe, healthy, minimal yet still good enough to use. After many tries I successfully created a ratio which achieved what I wanted.
Getting it available for purchasing took me a while as I was doing all of this while working a full time job, traveling and moving states, as well as posting online.
It was totally worth it and in the future I have much bigger and better plans for a version 2 of the product, where I plan to document the whole process in a vlog style so that it is 100% transparent, as well as visit the places where I am gathering the resources to know who the people are behind the ingredients.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I began my social media solely to meet friends and like minded people. It grew a lot more than I had planned and I ended up with a pretty decent following which I am grateful for. I did reach my goal which was to meet friends and even the most amazing partner.
I began just posting about my life and tips, about ballet, health, and life in general. Anything niche that I learned about that I thought was helpful I would share, people found it useful and interesting and followed me. I found that with social media you either entertain people and/or provide information/ hacks.
I love editing videos even if it is more artsy and not necessarily interesting or useful, it’s relaxing and fun to do, and if people do like that as well, then even better.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Contrary to the question, but I think spending time alone and with yourself – being ok with yourself, asking yourself hard questions and just branching out from there is amazing. Starting with a difficult life question, then coming up with answers – pros and cons for each, then choosing the logical answer vs. the emotional answer is so life changing. It helps with making decisions both for your business but also for life in general.
That being said Alan Watts and Rudolf Steiner are great to read and listen to as well. There is also one book which I love especially if you need guidance for anything and everything, it is called “as a man thinketh” my James Allen.
