We recently connected with Olivia Wirick and have shared our conversation below.
Olivia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump right into the heart of things. Outsiders often think businesses or industries have much larger profit margins than they actually do – the reason is that outsiders are often unaware of the biggest challenges to profitability in various industries – what’s the biggest challenge to profitability in your industry?
The two biggest challenges in the social media/digital marketing agency are: 1. market saturation and
2. staying up to date with the latest trends and algorithms
There are a TON of amazing marketers/agencies out there who can effectively manage your social media but to differentiate yourself from your competition to become profitable in the industry is finding your niche. With my experience in the real estate industry, my team is able to provide real estate professionals with an experience tailored to their real estate business so they aren’t wasting time and marketing dollars. Not only can you better help your clients, but it is also 10000 times easier to grow an account/business through social media when you know exactly what kind of followers/clients you’re looking for and figure out how to appeal to them. Marketing directly to your niche will help you run a profitable business and stand out from the competition!
Staying up to date on all the trends is HARD, especially when they’re changing daily but it’s so important to keep a competitive edge in your industry, especially when it’s marketing. Stay up to date with marketing newsletters, join groups and threads focusing on marketing discussions and trends, and research, research, research! This will help you keep up with the ever-changing marketing world and contribute to your expertise, leading to a successful/profitable business in the industry!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Just a few years into my real estate career, I identified a need in the industry. There are tons of real estate agents in practically every city, but as most are experts in sales, negotiations, and general real estate they had NO idea how to market/brand themselves in order to grow their database and serve more clients. That’s when I had the idea to start She Sells Creative Co, a digital marketing/social media management agency for real estate professionals, entrepreneurs, and small businesses.
I started She Sells Creative Co as a small Etsy shop with just a few listings focused towards real estate agents. Through social media, I started to meet tons of amazing real estate professionals and other entrepreneurs across the United States who needed help building their brand and growing their social media! Since founding the company in January of 2022, our team has helped over 25 entrepreneurs and small businesses in 20 different states with various marketing efforts including social media management, graphic design, website design, email marketing, and more!
What I love about our business is it’s all custom based on our client’s business. We don’t have a ‘menu’ of packages to choose from, but thoroughly analyze or client’s business and goals, and strategize the best marketing plan from there. This allows us to serve a wide range of clients who are have various needs/budgets/etc.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Starting from zero on social media is tough… It takes a lot of time, dedication, and perseverance to grow your audience. The most important thing to note when you start building your social media page is to know WHO you want in your audience (potential clients). When you narrow down who you’re trying to reach, you can put together a content strategy that appeals to that audience, making them more likely to want to engage and follow your account! It also takes a LOT of digging to build your audience. Not everyone is going to come to you, so you have to go out and find them! Find accounts with an audience similar to yours and see who’s engaging and following them. Leave thoughtful comments on posts of those who you’d like to follow you and express value within your page! Ten to twenty minutes of meaningful engagement a day can go a long way!
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Social media + referrals!!! We’ve been super fortunate at She Sells Creative Co that 100% of our clients have come through social media or my personal network/referrals! People go to social media for EVERYTHING these days, so making sure you’re showcasing your brand/business on multiple platforms is soooo important. When using social media to find clients make sure it’s easy for them to reach you (be responsive in DMs or have a “book a meeting” link in your bio), convey your offerings through various media types (photos, videos, reels, etc) and make it clear WHY a potential client should use your services and HOW you can help them!
