We were lucky to catch up with Olivia Wilson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Olivia, appreciate you joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
Once I had children, I started planning extravagant parties for them — from custom cupcakes and moon bounces to face painting, magic shows, and custom backdrops. I’ve always loved enhancing parties and creating memorable experiences, and that’s really where my passion started and grew into what I do today with Libby Kraftz. Looking back, I would’ve just started sooner and not overthought things so much. I would have trusted myself earlier and continued to invest — whether that meant putting in money, time, or energy into learning new skills and building my business.
Creativity has always been at the core of everything I do. I have an eye for detail, whether it’s in interior design, fashion, custom creations, or using design tools like Canva. That creative side allows me to bring any vision to life and keep evolving as a creator and entrepreneur. Of course, time has been one of my biggest challenges — balancing being a mom, a college student, and a coordinator overseeing two teams hasn’t always been easy. But even with those obstacles, every experience has pushed me to grow, stay consistent, and continue building something I’m proud of.

Olivia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Olivia Wilson, but most people know me as Libby. I’m a woman of many titles — a Jane of all trades who wears many hats with pride. My journey began in 2018 when I started making handmade bracelets from scratch and selling them in sets. From there, I upgraded to photo bangles and matching necklaces. Eventually, I wanted to expand my creativity, so I launched a fashion boutique — because I’ve always loved fashion and style. That’s when my business really started to take off. Through pop-up shops, giveaways, and offering quality products, I built a name and a loyal following.
A big part of my “why” comes from losing my sister, Kaya, in 2011. Her passing left me hurt, mad, confused, and heartbroken. But instead of giving up, I decided to channel that pain into purpose. I wanted to build something meaningful — businesses that could grow into multi-million-dollar companies while honoring her legacy and keeping her spirit alive through everything I create.
Through Libby Kraftz, I offer a range of creative products and services — from custom creations and fashion pieces to self-care essentials. I like to solve the shopping need for affordable, hands-on products and clothing that help people feel confident and stylish. Eventually, I also launched Libby Kosmetics, providing self-care items like eyelashes, lip gloss, and other beauty products to help women feel beautiful inside and out.
What sets me apart is my authenticity, creativity, and genuine connection to my community. I don’t just sell products — I create experiences and relationships. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come as a woman from Southeast DC, raising two children, building my brand, and navigating life with faith, resilience, and passion.
Connecting with women from different walks of life has helped me find my purpose. I love being able to relate to our shared challenges and discover ways to make our lives easier, our relationships stronger, and our confidence unshakable. My brand represents strength, style, and self-love — all rooted in creativity, community, and the legacy of my sister Kaya.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Yes — my creative journey is deeply driven by my sister Kaya and by the mission behind my brands, Libby Kraftz and Libby Kosmetics. Losing my sister in 2011 inspired me to turn my pain into purpose and build something meaningful that honors her memory.
With Libby Kraftz, my goal is to bring every event, celebration, and memory to life — creating personalized, fulfilling keepsakes that people can cherish forever. I want every client to feel the love, creativity, and attention to detail that goes into each design.
Through Libby Kosmetics, my mission is to make every woman feel confident, beautiful, and inspired. It’s about more than just products — it’s about self-love, empowerment, and reminding women that they deserve to feel their best every single day.
Together, both brands reflect my purpose: to create, connect, and continue my sister’s legacy through love, beauty, and meaningful experiences.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Absolutely! Canva — hands down.
I wish I had known about Canva much earlier in my creative journey. Now that I do, I use it for almost everything — from branding and marketing materials to event designs and social media content. It’s such a powerful tool that really allows me to bring my ideas to life visually.
I’ve even been featured on Canva several times as Olivia Wilson (OW), which has been such an exciting and rewarding experience. Definitely check it out — it’s a platform that truly helps creatives like me elevate our work and express our vision with ease.
