Alright, Olivia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.

Starting Liv With Light LLC was an opportunity for a fresh wind in sharing love and light through the beauty of this world behind my lens. It was a blessing and dream in the making. God is my main motivation and had been planting seeds all along. From being gifted my first camera and volunteering for a local photo studio as middle schooler to learning under an adjunct photographer professor and working for a wedding photography company, these seeds of opportunity grew into a blossom of an always passion and now career. I grew up with a desire on my heart to radiate the very beauty that God created in His nature, in His people, in His creation. I found that picking up a camera and snapshotting fleeting glimpses made them not so fleeting. There is a tangible beauty and piercing light that is experienced through capturing moments turned memories.

Stepping out and taking a risk to be a freelance photographer granted me an opportunity through a nudge that God placed on my heart when I was working a traditional office job. I have experience in a variety of fields, none of which have touched my soul as deeply as photography. Capturing a multitude of memories is like telling a story, creating a feeling, and alluding to the nostalgia of the life lived up until that moment and then the life lived beyond that moment in reflection of it. These glimpses into the lives of clients are an immeasurable blessing to me, as they allow for me to take a glance into their lives as they glance into my lens via my imagery. There are highs and lows to taking a risk in the business world as well as outside of it. I find there to be peace in contentment through it all, leaning into the light of life, learning, and growing from every experience, every sorrow, every joy.

Olivia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My name is Olivia, or “Liv” as some say. I’m a photographer, artist, and adventurer based in Michigan. I strive to live the life God has willed for me, walking in love and light wherever I go. Photography is where I express that calling best by capturing and sharing timeless glimpses of this beautiful world with the beautiful souls who fill it.

With over 14 years of experience behind the lens, I’ve been blessed to build a storybook of connective moments, or fleeting instances turned into forever memories. I have a passion to capture the very chapters that build life stories for those around me along with their passions. With that being said I photograph portraits, brands, commercial work, and specialize in food photography. I work to find a beauty in light in all things, which is strongly seen in my portfolio of work.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

As a believer and follower of God, I find there to be an intrinsic beauty in learning to be creative as God himself was. I find myself expressing both love and light through the work that I create within my photography business and through many of my other passions, drawing, painting, crocheting, et cetera.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

I have found word of mouth referrals to be the strongest strategy for reaching clientele. Although there are niche marketing techniques that can be used to supplement this, I believe that people to people connections can be seen as one of the most effective techniques.
