Olivia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
At Light of the Moon, Inc, we are a full-service company committed to empowering and supporting independent authors on their self-publishing journey. Founded and nurtured by a mother-daughter team, Alyssa Ohnmacht and Olivia Savard, our vision is to create a comprehensive self-publishing service that not only guides authors but also champions their creative independence.
The story behind our mission began with a genuine desire to create a self publishing service that operates with integrity, transparency, and unwavering support for authors.
“We witnessed the challenges faced by independent authors in the publishing industry,” says Alyssa. “We saw talented writers struggling with complex processes and feeling disempowered. This inspired us to create a service that would provide a transparent and supportive environment, empowering authors to retain control over their work.”
Our mission is driven by the belief that every author’s voice deserves to be heard and celebrated. We are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of authors, supporting their creative journey, and celebrating their success. By providing the necessary tools, knowledge, and personalized guidance, we empower authors to not only bring their stories to life, but to understand the process every step of the way.

Certainly. I’m Olivia Savard, and the dynamic woman beside me is my mother and business partner, Alyssa Ohnmacht. Together, we are the mother-daughter duo leading Light of the Moon, Inc. Our combined skills, my expertise in Communications and Social Media Marketing, along with Alyssa’s extensive experience as a graphic designer, serve as the foundation of our company. Our shared vision is to take the mystery out of self-publishing and empower independent authors through transparency, trust, and collaboration.
We offer a full range of services tailored to meet the individual author’s needs. Our services include: book coaching, editing, layout/design, printing coordination, marketing strategies, and much more. Every book is unique and we celebrate that by creating custom packages to fit each author’s needs.
Ultimately, we set out to provide a one-stop solution that encompasses all aspects of the self-publishing process; we simplify the journey for our clients, saving them time, effort, and the stress of coordinating multiple providers.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Watching an author hold their printed book for the first time is the most rewarding part of our business. We love helping our authors bring their stories to life.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
While social media and networking is helpful, the most effective strategy for growing our clientele has been word of mouth.
We strive to build and foster strong relationships with our authors—many of which continue on long after the book is published.
For this reason, many of our authors have been our biggest advocates, by sharing their positive experience with others.
