Olivia, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
As a creative in an ever-changing industry, I think it is important to have clarity of what success means to me. Practicing patience and persistence is key. In moments of uncertainty, it can be hard to stay on track. What I can control in those moments is continuing to trust in myself and my work. I spend a lot of time trying to reflect on my “why” and I have realized how important it is have a clear a point of view. The ability to look back on every project and see that personal point of view is super rewarding. As a stylist, I am usually hired for my specific style or creative vision, and because of this, staying authentic is super important to me. In addition to staying true to myself in my work, I also find success in knowing my clients are happy and feel empowered through our work together.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Olivia Rose and I am a celebrity fashion stylist based in Nashville, NYC and LA. With a background in music business, I have fused together my knowledge of music and fashion by working with many musical artists. The early years of my career in fashion involved working as an assistant celebrity stylist in the music industry and as a fashion based content creator. I work on a variety of different projects with clients such as, red carpet appearances/events, photoshoots, music videos and personal styling. I have worked with clients like Shania Twain, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Charles Kelley and HunterGirl. My work is displayed in various publications such as Billboard, People Magazine, Men’s Health Magazine, Southern Living and IRK Magazine. I also enjoy partnering with brands to create content and have been a part of many different brand collaborations including Honeylove, Cartier, thredUP, The Frye Company and more.
My fashion philosophy is simple, I want me clients to look and feel fabulous while remaining true to who they are. I believe that style an important form of self expression. There are many ways an outfit can speak for itself. I believe that developing a connection between my client and their style is essential in cultivating a sustainable creative image that will stand out. I work to ensure that authenticity remains prevalent throughout the process. I value the importance of dressing my clients in what looks best on them regardless of what is trending. Overall, I am a fashion resource for clients in need of developing an image, finding their personal style or wanting to take their wardrobe to the next level.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
As with many different experiences in life, I have had to learn the importance of putting myself out there. It has taken a lot of self reflection and personal growth to be in a position to do so. I always try to remember that regardless of the outcome, I will end up where I need to be. In my line of work, personal connection is so important. Connecting with others in my industry has been super rewarding because it gives me to opportunity to work with other creatives that I am inspired by. Since, I work closely with clients and their teams, it is important that I build trust by really listening, being reliable and always doing what is best for my client. In addition to networking and personal connection, I think that having a display of my work through my website and social media really helps me market myself and my services. It is important for future clients to be able to reference my style and previous projects I have worked on. So much of a choosing a stylist is about the client aligning with my creative perspective and developing trust and good communication for a successful collaboration.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a stylist is getting to collaborate with clients to help them create a look or an overall image that makes them feel confident and empowered. I love seeing the positive personal transformation process that can come through fashion and style. It is truly a joy to play a part in helping an idea come to life in a way that feels authentic to my clients and their work.
