We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Olivia Rogers a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Olivia, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Ever since I was young I found my way into creative outlets. Creating always brought me a sense of peace and joy. It helped me to express my voice and my sense of self. I remember some days as a child spending all of recess drawing pictures or making string bracelets. I always knew that I wanted to professionally pursue my art, even if it wasn’t a full time profession. As I got older I branched out into more creative outlets such as pastry and floral design. Unlike many other artists that I know, my artistic career is balanced alongside being a full time Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
All Sun Stoned jewelry, art, and accessories begin with a dream, experience, or a feeling. I find myself constantly collecting ideas and materials to add to my collections. My floral designs are garden romantic style and my pastry work specializes in laminated doughs and patisserie. I try to convey a sense of energy into everything I create!
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I started building my social presence slowly over the past few years. I mostly just use my instagram @sunxstoned or and my website www.sunxxstoned.com. For me, it has definitely been a challenge staying engaged on social media. I find it a bit exhausting and draining at times. If I could give any advice on starting your social media presence it would be to not burn yourself out. Find a day to commit to making content, and then leave the rest of the week free. It’s also so important to be involved in your local community! My business and following would not even exist without the support from my community, family, and friends. Support others and they will support you in turn.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part for me about being an artist is the peace that I find in the process, a way for me to channel my energy and thoughts. There’s something special about using nature to create your own jewelry, art, and designs. It connects you in a way that gives you more respect and curiosity for the materials used, the earth, and the process itself.
