We were lucky to catch up with Olivia Arnold recently and have shared our conversation below.
Olivia, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I initially started my business as a web and brand designer. I have always had a natural ability to create and design based on the vision given. However, I had no idea I was being conditioned and prepared for what I do now. I recognized that people were starting businesses with the logo being the basis of where they would start but many times that was as far as they would go. The logo is the easy part, understanding that it is not the the solution and everything of value of you is sometimes hard to consume. I out of an organic demand began coaching clients on their identity and helping them build and birth with clarity, confidence and creativity. I knew this was a part of my calling because some how I naturally had solutions because I had dealt with issues recognizing I had something of value to offer and many things would hinder me from truly pouring those things out. I wanted to be the solution I needed. Somehow what I did in some of the lowest moments in my life for free for people that were far a head of me turned into a coaching business where biblical foundation and identity is the premise of what I do. It’s not that no one else is offering coaching that is faith-based , filled with strategy and tons of creative resources but no one is packaged they way I am. No one has the unique identifiers and experiences I have that makes me me and allows me to pour, teach and create the way that I do. I’m grateful there was room for me.
Olivia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a creator and encourager at heart. At some point the two worlds intertwined and shifted me in as a Speaker and Creative Confidence Coach. I am a firm believer that many of your biggest problems in life are the very solutions you will solve and I have proven that over and over again in my own life. I coach women to boldly walk in their God-given calling and amplify their voices in digital spaces. People are moved by voices and stories which is why video weighs so heavily online. I believe the very frequency of our voices pulls in a set of people who’s ear will weaken to its sound and be moved, influence, impacted and equipped to go forth in what they are called to do. I help my clients do that with confidence while dismantling imposter syndrome, comparison, doubt and self-sabotage. Each pour is different because each client needs something different but my framework is the same. I have helped client’s start ministries, write e-books, launch events, get out caves that have muted their voices, identify their own style and fashion sense, and birth long awaited businesses online. I give strategy and creative resources that will help them implement as well as strategies to defeat moments when life is life-ing and they want to come to a complete stop. Along side of coaching I offer brand development, digital show production, styling, creative directing and web design. I am proud this is not just a business for me, it is an opportunity to serve and love on women who were vaciliating with how amazing they are.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to unlearn that the gurus I thought knew it all, did not know it all for me. Adding a coaching service to my business was truly delayed. I spent hours watching people set up processes and systems, create funnels, schedule 4-week launches and it literally was the most intimidating thing ever to experience as a business owner. I realized that no one ever wanted to talk about the process of it all. I needed to pray for my own strategy and just “Be” who I am naturally. That was a huge difference because it’s love lead and not result driven.
All of the “things” aren’t wrong but much of it is centered around comparison only to find out most of the individuals were just learning themselves. Its a cycle I had to be careful of. I had to unlearn that watching what the gurus do and how they do is not always how I am supposed to move. I needed to learn my audience and I found out they preferred authenticity. For me my clients came through organic discovery and word of mouth. I would encourage and give practical steps and insight and naturally clients wanted to work with me. It did not start out of some perfectly organized system but with me positioning myself as a natural resource and trusted voice and influence. I’m not saying those system do not help you scale they do but my start was different and that was ok.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
You will always have to pivot. I truly believe that each thing we do is an assignment and like any assignment there is a time stamp. If I never had to pivot then I may not have given all I could in the assignment given or I missed the sign of when I did, which can be an issue in itself. I pivoted around the start of Covid-19. I was burnout and the well was drying up but literally had brought in a last rush of business that was overwhelming financially, mentally and physically. I was sensing that a shift was on the horizon and was not sure what it was. I begin feeling lead to share stories of how others overcame situations through testimonies so those watching knew it was possible. Later on this turned into another brand I created called A Bolder Woman which was created to equip and ignite women in faith, identity, confidence and business. I have married my current Business Emerge Consulting Firm with A Bolder Women because I know many impacted by how we curate information, teaching and media there will possibly become coaching clients of either the 1:1 or membership program at some point. I pivoted not to just do something different but to be more of who I am. There was more in me and I was being led to serve at a greater capacity.
