We recently connected with Olivia and have shared our conversation below.
Olivia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
I wish I started earlier. I perceive an earlier artistic career as easier and more fruitful later down the road. However, I did not have the maturity and life experience then that creates deeper art. So, I choose to be happy with when this path started.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Olivia and I produce The House of Red Velvet. We are a live show that is centered around an underlying theme. Our goal is to bring our personal and the human experience into a surrealistic vision onstage. It is best described by others in my opinion. Here is one audience quote from our website: “This production is spun from a web of dark nightmares and thrust upon our psyches in a surreal Lynchian Daliesque performance that exudes sensuality, obsession, lust, rage and female empowerment and dominance. It is Everything that we dream about in the blackness of night. You will be completely immersed in pure dark euphoria in the House of Red Velvet.”
I would like our potential fans, and followers to see us as a gateway into their own mind. We want people to attend without any expectations. There may be times you are put in a position that may feel uncomfortable. Maybe the room is hot, or maybe the chair is wobbling. We want you to experience every thing that is thrown out at you without fighting it. Focus on every beat in the song, watch intently and feel it. I like to think of the show as a pulsating organ.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I will talk specifically about venues. I think venue owners need to be more supportive of the arts. Many in LA don’t care even when you are bringing in business to their establishment. It is difficult to find supportive venues. I think this needs to change. It puts unnecessary pressure in places where it doesn’t need to be. Also, communication. I think as a society we all just need to communicate in better ways. People who go out and support the arts are a blessing. We are so grateful to them. It is a positive thing. You never know what you will learn, or who you will meet.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect will always be what our audiences feel. It will be the expression of their feelings in the truest form. We love when they take the time to share with us. It feels like a true connection. Something we all are seeking in life.
