We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Olga Zelek a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Olga thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How do you think about vacations as a business owner? Do you take them and if so, how? If you don’t, why not?
I work very hard but I can’t imagine not to take vacation. It is the European in me that seeks for a healthy lifestyle balance. I think we all need a little reset time, and time away from your routine and work so you can clear your mind and become even better and more innovative as an entrepreneur. I usually choose a slower time for business and I delegate one responsible person who is in charge while I am gone. It usually works well since I stay available if they have any questions or major issues.

Olga, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My eyebrow journey started by accident over 20 years ago in Nordstrom Oakbrook, Il when I was hired to manage the new back then cosmetic counter specializing in eyebrows -” Anastasia Beverly Hills” I was new to this type of job and the cosmetic line was a very new too, pretty much not known yet. Was handed freshly arrived boxes full of brow kits, shelves to arrange products on, and very high sales goals to achieve. This is how I was introduced to this business. Being always an ambitious and hard working person who doesn’t give up I had no other way but do it. Pretty much within few months, I become one of the top producers for that brand among all the Nordstroms. I fell in love with changing people’s brows, I found my calling, passion, and my clients always responded to the personal care and expertise which I would always emanate from them. From there I moved to Scottsdale and I start doing the same: spreading my brow love and passion for my new clients. It did not take me too long to build my business here as well. The reputation for being meticulous and precise has garnered me a loyal following of clientele and the highest form of praise: word-of-mouth referrals. It was all before social media ! Such a different times :)
In my opinion passion and hard work can always lead to a success.
Has it been a smooth road?
It is never a smooth road when you own your business, but the hardest part is finding right people , who can share a similar passion.
Now let’s talk more about the business.:
Our specialty is eyebrow shaping, we don’t just wax eyebrows we provide the ultimate brow experience. It means we spend time, we educate clients on how to fill in sparse eyebrows and identify your correct shape, the color so your brows always look their best. Sculpting the perfect brow requires the hand of a skilled artist. Armed with an artful touch, Olga Brow Studio’s artist’s mission is simple—helping a woman look and feel her best. The artistic, personal, full of precision approach to the process of eyebrows shaping is what sets us apart from other waxing places.
Our studio was featured in AZ-Lifestyle Magazine and 3TV Good Morning Arizona. Olga was proclaimed The Brow Goddess by media and her clients.
No matter the condition brows, from unruly to barely there, we are here to help achieve the best shape for your brows to both frames your face and complement your eyes. After just one visit to our studio, you’ll notice the instant eye-opening effect of a perfectly sculpted brow.
The beauty trends seem to be on a rise. Women are more and more interested in taking care of themselves so the prognosis for our business are optimistic. The key is to stay on top of your game and always provide the best possible service

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
When I started back 17 years ago there were not many professional brow places and I provided a very meticulous service so it made me stand out from the rest and a word of mouth helped me grow fast. The IG didn’t exist yet. :) Market wasn’t as saturated so I have to admit it made it easier to grow

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
In my 2nd year of owning this business I became a mother of my wonderful daughter. Being short staffed I had no choice but go back to work 5 weeks after I had her. It was so hard on me but I had no choice.
