Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Olga Saldivar. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Olga , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Being an artist for more than 18 years, my work has evolved as well as my style. Although I started painting murals sporadically every couple of years, this specific project really inspired me and triggered a whole chain of work that trully made an impact in my career.
I did a trip to the South of France last year that inspired so much of my current work. I fell in love with antique european design, so when my client – interior designer Annie Brahler asked me to do a french inspired mural for her breakfast room I knew immediately it was a project I wanted to do.
The breakfast room had vaulted ceilings so it worked perfectly with a design of clouds, birds and a french chinoiserie flair.
After finishing that project, I was inspired to paint more personalized murals that can add more meaning to the home. Anyone can find a french wallpaper, but the beauty of a hand painted mural is that you can make it your own and be part of your family’s story.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Im a Mexican born, Texas based artist. Growing up in Monterrey, Mexico, I developed a passion for creating at a young age and throughout my career I have been experimenting with different mediums and outlets. From designing a leather accessory line for 10 years to designing the scenery and costume for Houston Ballet’s ‘Floreciente”.
What has definetly been a constant during my career is the urge to create something beautiful. I like to blend textures and themes that can transmit an emotion. Inspired by nature, my artwork usually has whimsical elements that invites viewers to appreciate the intricacies of the world around us, encouraging a deeper connection with the beauty found in everyday life.
Currently I have been traveling for custom mural projects. It has been an amazing experience to be trusted with a permanent space for a couple of days and leaving something meaningful and special behind. Out of all my years as an artist I feel the most comfortable and at peace when im creating these murals.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
While I had been an artist for years, I didn’t use to have to rely on my career to sustain myself. However, I went through a difficult time in my life while going through divorce after 12 years of marriage. I had to learn how to be resilient and survive with what I knew how to do.
I worked hard and put in the time to learn and experiment in my creative outlets that could financially sustain me and my kids.
I can see now looking back that hard experiences like that can really change your perspective in life and can give you that push to reach a potential you didn’t know you had.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I love creating something meaningful for my clients. It is so rewarding to hear that a certain piece makes them feel something. I have always been a visual person so when I see something beautiful it brings me peace. That is what I want for my clients to feel. Hearing someone loves something you did is very rewarding.
