We recently connected with Okoyae Robinson and have shared our conversation below.
Okoyae , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s jump right into the heart of things. Outsiders often think businesses or industries have much larger profit margins than they actually do – the reason is that outsiders are often unaware of the biggest challenges to profitability in various industries – what’s the biggest challenge to profitability in your industry?
The biggest challenge to profitability is exposure. This is a challenge when starting a business because you’re unknown to the masses and to entities that could be helpful to your success. Exposure from big brands or big names would be helpful solely for the fact that they reach the masses or they have a strong ability to reach the masses. I feel if any startup / beginner gets exposure from a channel that could reach the masses, would definitely help with the challenge to profitability, EXPOSURE.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Okoyae and I’m the creator of Chozen Mob Attire. I got into this business simply for my love of socks. I love all kinds and types of socks, so one day I had this idea to start my own sock line with hopes of it flourishing into much more. Since this idea I’ve thought and planned and failed several times before I finally found “it”. “It” being Chozen Mob Attire. Chozen Mob Attire provides a plethora of socks with all kinds of designs, patterns, and color ways. This brand is meant to merge urban styles with simplicity to produce a uniquely defined product. Comfortableness, design, and wear sets me apart from others and I’m most proud of my business in general. I just want everyone to know that I strive to provide the best quality and the most satisfaction possible to all.
Do you sell on your site, or do you use a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc?
I sell primarily on my own site, chozenmobattirez.com. I chose this because I wanted to have my own platform for my products. The pros are that it’s my own and I control whatever is on my platform, having 100% accessibility, and having full creative space. The cons are as a startup that you don’t have the clientele so it’s not heavy traffic on your platform and not having exposure to generate visitors to your platform. I plan on using platforms like Amazon to help with exposure.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
For the most part emails. Emails, emails, emails!!! But I respond on my socials as well.
