Odette , appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the decision of whether to donate a percentage of sales to an organization or cause – we’d love to hear the backstory of how you thought through this.
“Every man should) plant a tree, have a child, and write a book.” – UNKNOWN
Even when it’s not 100% clear who wrote that quote, the truth is we humans want to be part of something bigger than ourselves to ensure a legacy. I would say that everyone needs to be photographed, plant many trees and write, at least, a book (or a blog).

Odette , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was a teacher of English for nine years, but photography was always my passion. I started photographing my friends’ children some years ago, and one day, I decided to go all-in.
That’s how Odette Photo+Art was born.
I became a portrait photographer, specializing in family portraits and personal branding for small businesses.
I want to pour happiness into people’s lives by creating the best photographs they have ever seen of themselves, images that help build their legacies and grow their businesses.
I recently launched a new project for women in business. it is called Limitless: the Power of Women in business, and I want to photograph 35 changemakers!
My favorite thing about my work is being able to create meaningful connections with the people I photograph!
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I started as a family photographer, but COVid happened, and none was booking family sessions. I decided to add product photography and personal branding and fell in love with these new worlds of photography.
Knowing that my art is actively helping people grow their businesses and make more money is extremely rewarding!
I primarily work with small businesses, and it is great to learn about them, connect, and help them thrive.
We do rise by lifting others!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is seeing your art hanging on people’s walls or showcased on business websites, or all over social media. Seeing the art you created come to life and become part of a legacy is priceless
