Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to O Future. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
O Future, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
Yes, we are full time working artists.

Jens, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
O Future is an art and music collective creating digital 3D handmade animations, music, filmscores, sounddesign and more, consisting of Katherine Mills Rymer originally from South Africa and Jens Bjornkjaer originally from Denmark. After living 12 years in Los Angeles we moved to Copenhagen Denmark in 2023 where we now reside.
Our work is between fine arts and commercial projects ranging from museum and gallery exhibitions, film and theatre music ,video, musical albums, music videos, vinyl covers, videos and much more. The core of our process is to try to create new expressions using old and new technology mixing things that are very old with contemporary futuristic stuff from the computers.
We are currently working on a solo exhibition for Copenhagen’s Thorvaldsens Museum. A museum that was opened in 1848 as the first public museum in the country. A museum in which art was presented not only to the royal court but to the people for the first time.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
Seeking creativity is a skill that can be nurtured and learned and has to be maintained in the same way any relationship or plant has to be watered and taken care of. In the creative world we are constantly looking for what is not there yet, trying to put ourselves in a position to be able to grab new ideas, sounds, looks and other things out of thin air. To not have something and then suddenly have it appearing out of nowhere.
It’s a process that is endlessly fascinating and satisfying when the creation process happens, and you feel that something new and exiting is brewing.
In order to be able to do that over and over again. We have to keep pushing ourselves into new territories and keep being curious, and in a sense, bored with what we already have, so we have no choice but to push on. This also means that we have to put ourselves in unfamiliar and uncomfortable situations where we don’t have answers but are constantly looking for them. Like being in a classroom where you don’t know anything about anything but still seeks to find meaning and knowledge.
All of this can be terrifying, frustrating and depressing but also amazingly rewarding and satisfying, for a short while at least when new things occur in the creative sky of the mind.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Our goal in making art is, at the end of the day, to satisfy the void in our souls ,when we create new things we like, and become happy or at least not depressed. Other than that it is also to make careers and money and support ourselves owning homes, cars and everything else we need, to feel good in our modern society.
We are interested in anything very old but also new technology, so the sweet spot for most of the things we make is somewhere where these things somehow intersect.
