We were lucky to catch up with N’zyia Miller recently and have shared our conversation below.
N’Zyia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the story of how you went from this being just an idea to making it into something real.
Honestly starting photography wasn’t my idea at the beginning, it was kind of an accident. My mom was getting married and wanted some photos taken of the ceremony. My brother (The original photographer lol) was supposed to take her pictures but he ended up being busy that day plus we were traveling to our hometown for the wedding. He came to me saying I’d need to take the pictures and basically gave me the basics on how to work his camera etc.. Honestly at the time I was young and was more focused on pursuing a career in dancing so a career in photography never honestly crossed my mind. Later on down the line once I hit high school my junior year I started taking photography classes, I was also practicing graphic design as well. The head coach for our schools football team reached out to me and asked if I was okay with being the manager for the team and take pictures for them also, I’m a huge fan of football so I was thrilled!! My brother got me a camera and after my first shoot I fell in love with sports photography!! After that I just started taking photography seriously for a while.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
What’s uppp, I’m N’Zyia but you can call me Canon, I’m a ATL based photographer, I have been in the photography world for 7 years!! I started out doing Weddings and Sports Photography which I still currently provide +more!! Im one of the most down to earth photographers you’d meet and I consider all of my clients family.
Currently in my career I’m most proud of how far I’ve come despite dealing with depression, anxiety, losing motivation I still pushed to continue pursuing my career in photography. My mom inspired me to always keep pushing despite what tries to break me down, she’s one of the most strongest people I know.
I started doing photography because I love the smile it puts on my clients faces when I capture them doing something they love to do wether that’s being with family, celebrating a special moment, sports, and all. Making people happy makes me happy and I hope to continue putting smiles on people faces when I turn their vision into everlasting memories.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Honestly it’s the joy I give people when I capture them in a state of happiness wether that’s a birthday party, wedding, performance etc.. It’s rewarding for me because I feel like i accomplished something each time it happens and it also makes me happy as well. It’s the main reason why I do what I do not only because of I love my craft and what I do also because of the smiles I bring to people after a successful shoot like a mentioned earlier!

How did you build your audience on social media?
Although I’m still building an audience on all my platforms, I’d say stay consistent, be disciplined towards yourself when it comes to engaging with your audience and building an audience as well, never let your audience feel as though you “forgot about them” continue pushing out content. It’s not only going to attract the audience you already have but it’ll also attract more people/viewers. There was a time I wasn’t consistent on my main TikTok account for a extended period of time and lost a few followers but once I started being disciplined towards myself and posting more I gained them back in no time. That’s all it takes.. STAY CONSISTENT.
