We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nyshaun Harvey a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nyshaun , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My mission is to spread a cup of hope to those around me who need a little extra push. My prayer is for everyone who comes through the door to feel peace and experience a safe place.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have always had a love for coffee. When I lost my father that love grew deeper as I struggled with severe migraines, caffeine was the only thing that would them subside. I would spend most of my time and money at coffee drive-thru’s. I figured I could use that money to not only invest in myself, but community as well while giving back. We provide a variety of lattes – iced and hot. We also are known for our latte flights and double sided cups. This sets us a part from all other cafes in the St.Louis County/City and surrounding areas. I am most proud of my drive and determination to push through all of this in the middle of a pandemic and open the doors anyway. I want clients to feel my love for the community and coffee.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I have built my own audience on instagram over the last year. I have taken the time to learn algorithms, demographic, and always whats “instagram” worthy. My advice to anyone starting is to use your resources and do your homework. I had to take time to figure these things out, sometimes it was just clicking on buttons or posting at different times.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
My biggest advice for managing a team is to be relational. I have made it a priority to build relationships with my staff while still creating boundaries. This is not always easy, but the first step is letting them know they can trust you. It’s a hard balance, honestly. When you build trust and make yourself relatable to the team, they are easier to correct.
