Nykiah , appreciate you joining us today. The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.
My first client in my business(Star Glam Mobile Beauty Services) was actually a large group party booking for mobile hair and makeup services for a birthday party. I was so happy that I got that booking but also worried and a little stressed because at that time with just starting out in business, I didn’t have a full staff of Hairstylist or Make-Up artist that could assist me in the large party of 10, It was just me as the hairstylist and like two other make-up artist that I had hired at that time. So, immediately I had to solve that problem of how we was going to pull off the gig! Well, needless to say we pulled it off, we we were working in overtime, at a good pace and everyone was cooperative and patient while getting services.
After that day, and packing up our tools to leave, I felt so good for that first dollar in my business was made and that I knew that I had. very lucrative business idea for sure. Even though that first dollar that was made came with a obstacle.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Building your audience on social media is and will be such a great reward in your business while building your brand. Social Media is such a great tool to use, I’ve learned that while building a online presence, Posting your content daily, engaging with your potential customers daily online, Always having a link for potential customers connect or book with you online as well, is the most important things that you will want to do on social media.
I can say that I built my online presence by being consistent with posting my goods and service for years.
People would like to see you very active with your social media accounts to know that your business is legit, and is operating well. I also like to engage to build my online presence, it gives your account a boost in the algorithm.
Presenting nice, clear, attractive photos of you or your products or services is also another good way of building your brand in business, you want to have a image of providing value to people online for them to respect you and to follow you to eventually book services from you. Stay consistent and be active and creative when building your online presence.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson that I had to unlearn in business is that not every customer is right. That old saying in customer service that declare the “The Customer is Always Right” is. not true in every case when working with clients, dealing with customers, When solving issues with clients and my workers, I have a way of balancing out who’s right and who’s wrong in the situation.
I will always hear out my talent first, and then the client, and then I will resolve the problem based on both stories in the incident.
