We recently connected with Nyia Moore and have shared our conversation below.
Nyia , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
Growing up with a single mom, I learned the power of resilience and self-belief early on. My mom always told me, “If you want something, go after it with everything you’ve got” and “How you do anything is how you do everything.” She taught me to be relentless in pursuing my goals, instilling the idea that I should be so good they can’t ignore me. She showed me that being outspoken and well-spoken was a strength and that my voice and ideas mattered.
Nyia , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m an author, influencer, and the creator behind The WriteHer, a brand focused on storytelling, inspiration, and empowering voices. My journey began with a love for words and storytelling, which has always been my way of making sense of the world. I started sharing pieces of my story online, where I discovered the incredible power of authentic stories to connect and inspire others. This led me to build a community centered around lifestyle, creativity, and personal growth, allowing me to create content that blends my passions for productivity, education, and self-expression.
Through The WriteHer, I offer products rooted in the beauty of words, from written pieces to resources that help others express themselves. My published book is a collection of poems capturing real experiences from my teenage years and 20s, reflecting the highs, lows, and lessons that shaped who I am today. I’ve found that sharing these stories has helped others feel seen and understood, and I’m dedicated to continuing to create relatable, inspiring content.
What sets me apart is my commitment to originality, authenticity, and empowering others to embrace their voices. I’m proud of building a brand that encourages people to live intentionally and pursue their passions. I want my followers and clients to know that The WriteHer is here to inspire them to take up space, tell their stories, and create lives that reflect their unique journeys.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building my social media audience has been a journey rooted in authenticity and connection. When I first started, I wasn’t focused on numbers; I was focused on sharing real stories and insights that felt meaningful to me. I shared my journey through poems, reflections, and lessons learned, letting people into my world in an honest way. As I did this consistently, my audience grew organically. People connected with the raw, relatable moments I shared, and that helped form a loyal community.
A mey moment was when I published my book , the themes resonated deeply with my followers, and they began sharing their own stories in response. That’s when I realized the true power of storytelling and community, which encouraged me to continue creating content that connects and empowers.
For anyone starting out, my best advice is to be authentic and intentional. Don’t try to mold yourself to what you think people want or what’s trending. Be yourself and focus on what genuinely matters to you. Stay consistent, engage with your audience, and treat your community as a two-way conversation. Remember, it’s about creating relationships, not just building a following. People are drawn to authenticity, so if you show up as you are, your audience will find you.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
My journey has been marked by resilience in ways I never could have anticipated. Losing my mother suddenly and finding her deceased, changed my world forever; it’s a moment that shakes you to the core, leaving you to navigate life without the person who meant and taught you everything. Not long after, I experienced a life changing miscarriage, a loss that deepened my grief and forced me to confront a whole new kind of pain. I’ve also endured toxic and abusive relationships that left scars, yet taught me to redefine my worth and rebuild my sense of self.
Figuring out life without traditional support has been a journey of trial and error. There isn’t a roadmap; I have to trust myself to learn, stumble, and rise over and over again. My story is one of resilience, of moving forward through the darkness to find light. And I know I’m not alone in this. Resilience is woven into the lives of so many women, especially Black women, who are continually met with unique challenges yet continue to rise. We hold ourselves up, find strength in our stories, and inspire each other to keep going, no matter what life brings our way.
