We recently connected with Nya Marsh and have shared our conversation below.
Nya , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I’ve always been a creative and I’ve loved art my whole life. Even as a child I would paint, draw, write and create and I loved photography. I was involved in dance and theatre and I went to college for graphic design. For years I was a makeup artist and I specialized in special effects makeup. I learned to cook at a young age and fell in love with that as well, Naturally when I went vegan I cooked a lot more and my love for cooking and sharing my vegan lifestyle grew even more

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’ve been vegan for about 7 years and it’s been a long but fun journey for me. When I first made the transition I didn’t know very many people who were vegan or vegetarian, I had to learn a lot about veganism on my own and it was a struggle to fully transition. After I got the hang of the lifestyle I fell in love with cooking and exploring new foods again, When I started to share my journey on social media I had a number of people come to me for help and advice and that fueled me to continue to do what I could to help others along their health journeys. I continued to make recipes until I was able to write my own recipe book. I grew bigger in the social media world and was able to connect with businesses and brands which pushed me into being an influencer. I loved being an influencer because of the connections I was able to make with other influencers and also with different vegan /vegan based brands, it gave me the opportunity to share vegan brands and products with my followers that I used and loved. My mission has been to share how veganism can be delicious and healthy and to share my own vibrant and colorful foods. I’ve recently gotten into making colorful drinks and I’m working on a drink ebook that will also help others make fun and colorful drinks for themselves
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative to me is that I can get to express myself while also helping people and making a profit from it. I believe doing what you love is detrimental to life and I get to do that by cooking, sharing products and brands and showing others what I do and how I manage a vegan lifestyle. It’s also a plus to help people make better choices when it comes to what they put into and on their bodies

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I started off as a makeup artist on social media. I began growing my page by sharing my makeup looks but at the time makeup was more of a creative outlet for me and I wanted to be able to make more money and not get burned out in life. I made the transition to veganism and changed from makeup to food. My close friends and family have always been supportive of me and my growth on social media. It took a couple years of being consistent and posting at least once a day. Responding to followers and comments made a big impact on engagement and I would recommend anyone trying to grow their page and following be as interactive as they can. I started doing small collaborations with brands and companies that gave me the opportunity to experience more within branding and marketing myself and others. Eventually certain brands would come to me via direct message or email about partnerships and offering to pay for reviews of their products or to post their products or brands. From there I continued to work with people until I was able to set my own rates for how much I wanted to be paid per partnership.
