Hi Nupur, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
A few months ago, I received a heartfelt call from a client who needed a cake for her sister that very evening. Her sister was in the hospital, preparing for a major cancer surgery, and her one wish was to have a special cake before the operation. Knowing how much this meant to them, I quickly got to work, putting all my love and care into making it just right. That same evening, the cake was delivered to the hospital, bringing a moment of joy and comfort during such a difficult time. The client was beyond grateful, and knowing that my cake could be part of such a meaningful moment was truly humbling.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My journey with this bakery started as a simple passion project from home. Baking had always been something I loved, and as I started taking small orders, word quickly spread. Local exhibitions played a huge role in getting my name out there, and before I knew it, I had built a loyal client base.
After a few years, I realized that managing everything from home was becoming overwhelming. The time felt right to take the next step and open a physical space—but it was a daunting decision. The high rent and the risks involved made me second-guess myself, and I put the idea on hold. However, after a year of careful consideration, I decided to take the plunge. We explored different rental spaces, finally found the right one, and things just started falling into place, almost like a puzzle coming together. I truly believe that when the timing is right, things happen organically.
But just as I signed my lease, COVID hit. It was a challenging time, but looking back, I see the silver lining. The situation allowed me to negotiate better rental terms and ease into running a business outside of my home. Since I had no prior experience in managing a storefront, the slower pace gave me time to learn—understanding the business nuances, hiring the right employees, and setting up systems that worked best for me.
Now, nearly five years later, every day is still a learning experience. Opening a bakery was always my dream, something I thought I would do much later after my kids grew up. But life had other plans, and I feel incredibly grateful that it all happened when it did. Of course, there have been both highs and lows, but I’ve always found a way forward, and I’m thankful for the support of my family and my wonderful customers.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Nothing beats the power of a happy customer recommending my cakes and pastries to their friends and family. When people genuinely love what they taste, they naturally share their experience, bringing in new clients without any extra effort.
Having a consistently high-quality product has also played a huge role. When customers know they can trust me to deliver something delicious and beautifully made, they keep coming back—and they bring others with them.
Lastly, local exhibitions and events have been great for reaching new people. Setting up a stall at community gatherings, food fairs, or pop-up markets has allowed people to try my treats firsthand, leading to more orders and loyal customers.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Building my bakery’s social media audience has been a journey of consistency, creativity, and connection. In the beginning, it was all about showcasing my work—beautifully decorated cakes, pastries, and desserts that spoke for themselves. I focused on high-quality photos, engaging captions, and storytelling that made people feel a part of my journey.
One of the biggest turning points was when I started sharing behind-the-scenes content—how cakes were made, the effort that went into each order, and even some of the challenges along the way. People love authenticity, and showing the human side of the business really helped build trust and engagement.
