We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nuke Franklin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nuke below.
Alright, Nuke thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
Nothing makes me happier than being an artist. There is no feeling in the world better than creating something that was just a thought and making it tangible. Having a regular job is cool and also necessary most times for people aspiring to build a brand from the ground up but the fulfillment you get from being an active artist and creator is unmatched in my opinion.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I initially got interested in being a musician from watching my uncle be one. My family is full of people that are obsessed with music, from Hip-Hop and R&B to Soul, Rock and Funk, I was always around it. Honestly, when I started it was more so out of curiosity but as I grew more attached to it, it became a way for me to express myself in ways that I couldn’t confidently do before. The connection I build with people all across the world through my songs/stories and hearing how they relate or how something I said helped them or played some type of part in their life is definitely the thing I’m most proud of.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
That this is the thing in my life that gives me purpose and without purpose nothing matters. It takes a lot of time, focus & dedication and some people don’t understand the reasoning or simply don’t believe in you spending countless time, energy and focus to bring an idea or a passion into fruition. To prioritize a “dream” isn’t something that alot of people understand and honestly I get it, but for people like me our dreams mean the world to us and we have to chase and protect it at all costs.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I have two main goals, the ultimate goal for me is to create a positive legacy for my future kids to build on and uplift kids that are growing up like I did in urban communities with a lack of positive role models. I want to be able to use the resources I gain to give kids more options, insight and a broader view of the world instead of just their surroundings. The second is to be recognized at a high level as one of the most skilled and well rounded artist of my generation. I definitely need a couple of Grammys too lol.
