We were lucky to catch up with Nowayy recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nowayy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
It’s been soo many, every project I’ve put out is special to me because the music paints a picture of where I was at in life at that point, Convertibles On Collins probably was the most fun recording, at that time I had bought a drop top Mercedes i had went to miami and Cali that summer, we was partying damn near every week, doing shows all through Atlanta with the gang right with me I was just living life and rapping about all my experiences, those was good times man, That NoWayyOut project was next, I secured my biggest feature ever with Derez Deshon and Atlantas Dungeon Family’s Big Rube, I got real creative with that project but the most heartfelt project I’ve put out was Truth Be Told, that was a real game changing time for me, life had slowed down a lot, that Mercedes went back to a Nissan by then, financially I wasn’t where I was before to fund my music like I did, and all this is coming off of securing my biggest feature with Derez Deshon and Yung Bleu, I was staying in Buckhead a suburb in Atlanta at the time and I had just found out my lady was pregnant, life was going good for me but on the career side with music I wasn’t seeing any progression, I decided to step it up a notch and started recording at patchwerk and street execs studios in Atlanta, I started working on my craft and really locked in with some of the top engineers in Atlanta and I basically just rapped about everything I was going through at that time, the outcome was something I will always be proud of, I recorded some of my best material
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I been making music since high school but it took me a while to really take it serious, I’m most proud of all the material I’ve put out over the years and how much I’ve gotten better, if I can give any advice it’s to always keep going and follow your dreams when you really have a love and passion for something nothing can really steer you away from it
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Give everybody a chance, it’s a avenue and market for all types of music and most importantly stop having everything based off social media numbers, it’s a lot of great artist out there that only have like 2k followers but the music is dope
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect to me is seeing progression, it’s great feeling to go back and listen to all your old material and just be amazed about how much better you got over the years
