We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nova Novais a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nova, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
During 2022 – 2023 I was going down bad financially.
Wanting to fund my music career, I started educating myself on new ways to make money on my own , having a small car detailing company , cleaning houses , putting together marketing campaigns, assisting those in buisness , and composing music for others while obtaining a 9-5.
I wasn’t very happy . I would continue to rely on my friends and family to help me make decisions and I didn’t have the right guidance or the burning persistence.
Being around fake friends and dealing with loved ones in need I was left with barely any water for myself occasionally.
I started to wonder and study on how other artist I looked up to made a living off of their music and talents.
Still beating myself up mentally and comparing myself.
It took me a while to structure my brand and put together visually who I was to the world.
I had seen how possible it was to make money with music.
From preforming, to making deals with people who respect you, wether In music or marketing I found small amounts of income being accumulated from the little progress I was making.
I then decided to switch my mindset and believe in myself , registered my LLC and my music , put together a few visual projects of what I wanted to present to my audience and I started meeting amazing people I now call friends .

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Growing up my mom had me in the entertainment industry.
I was doing tap dancing , ballet , singing , guitar/piano , acting , and modeling classes for over 6 years.
Landed a lead role in a 2 hour wizard of OZ musical at age 9.
Sung for the L.E.O awards for Orange County at age 14.
Won medals and trophy’s for dance and singing. Appeared as an extra in multiple films and commercials.
I’ve always had a passion for the beauty of music and entertainment.
Moving out at almost the age of 18 due to family struggles , I’ve had to sacrifice a lot of my passion to make money in the ways I knew how.
In that time frame I gained a new passion and started learning mechanically about cars and how to build them up making some cash re selling parts and offering services .
I learnt more of how to budget and organize my money and time.
However , I had forgotten about my years of music and why it meant so much to me ..
Music has always brought me into a safe place , weather I was doubting myself , or out of love to give or receive. Music always brought me back to life , so I want to do that for those as well. I want to educate those on how powerful music is , and why it’s not something that should be done just for money. It has done crucial numbers on our people , From 2011 – 2022 there has been a half of a million lives taken from suicide .
Simply because they didn’t have the right mindset … music can help change the mindset , music can help you feel more , wether it’s good or bad it has the power to change you and it’s been proven countless of times. It’s been used to it’s bad advantage for too long.
My mission is to pour more love and positive awareness into the world .
During 2022 – 2023 I was going down bad financially.
Wanting to fund my music career, I started educating myself on new ways to make money on my own , so I started my hustles. From having a small car detailing company , cleaning houses , putting together marketing campaigns, assisting those in buisness , and composing music for others while obtaining a 9-5.
I wasn’t very happy . I would continue to rely on my friends and family to help me make decisions and I didn’t have the right guidance or the burning persistence.
Being around fake friends and dealing with loved ones in need , I was left with barely any water for myself occasionally.
I started to wonder and study on how other artist I looked up to made a living off of their music and talents.
Still beating myself up mentally and comparing myself.
It took me a while to structure my brand and put together visually who I wanted the world to see.
I had seen how possible it was to make money with music.
From preforming, to making deals with people who respect me, whether In music or marketing I found small amounts of income being accumulated from the little progress I was making.
I then decided to switch my mindset and believe in myself , registered my LLC and my music , put together a few visual projects of what I wanted to present to my audience and I started meeting amazing people I now call friends .
Giving me the sources and love I need. Even those who doubt me I’ve took it as fuel and humbly I continue to work my way up .
Climbing this staircase has been a lot harder than I imagined but I never gave up , despite my negative thoughts I pushed through , despite those who didn’t believe in me I stayed true to my vision , even for the times it was a failure it taught me great lessons .
Along this journey I realize how creative I am and how I can help people and it continues to give me the confidence and ambition to grow and pour more.
I landed my first official paid gig recently as a preformer and a marketing specialist and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for next year, as I continue to perfect my craft I know that nobody can take away what I have already in me and that it only gets better.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
There once was a time I was money driven. Being broke I was mentally unstable and pressured to make money by all means.
I put myself in situations that were uncomfortable and Unnecessary.
I’ve hurt some of my loyal loved ones even.
Brought myself so low to a point that I lost everything , including myself.
I had to un learn that in order to make money you have to take .. That I had to rush and not sleep . That I had to put myself in every room!
Not knowing what I was getting myself into ..
I met a lot of wrong people , and a lot of the right people ended up doing me wrong .
I had to learn the simplicity of living in the now. Being greatful by all means , loving myself and all my flaws . Accepting and forgiving my failures .
I had to learn patience, and boundaries .
Applying these two had brought me so much abundance and peace.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding is hearing the stories and the vents of those being touched by my music and how it helped them.
Having them come out to tell me how they relate.
Not only makes me feel less alone , but makes me feel like I have a great purpose .
Even those who scheme against me I inspire and it shows .
