We recently connected with Nora Moses and have shared our conversation below.
Nora, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
My first risk ever taken was when I left my medical office job in 2015 that I had been at for 8 years. I decided to pursue a medical sales position. I had no experience in medical sales at all but the owner of the company at the time saw something in me that I didn’t so she took a chance on me. I was very burnt out at my current job and needed a change and this was the best change I could have made for myself. It made me realize how much more I could be doing with my life and still help other people in the process.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers?
I have been in the medical field since joining the Army in 1998. I was a medic in the Army and once my commitment to them was completed I stayed in the medical field as a civilian. I enjoy helping people get better and it makes me happy to see them smile once this happens. Once I transitioned into medical sales I realized I could do the same in this field and was happy to have made the change to something that paid better and still let me do what I enjoyed. I worked for a small medical sales company for 5 years before the owner decided to sell it. While I was there I became very impressed with her story on how she started her own company and turned it into what it was before she decided it was time for her to retire from the business. I told myself thats what I wanted, to own something that was just mine and work for myself. A friend of mine that also worked in medical sales in Austin had the idea of and event staffing company and asked me to help her get it started. I did not know anything about event staffing and was a little nervous at first. I had to go back to my medical office job and took a pretty big pay cut when I did this so I figured this would be something I could do to supplement my current income. After booking and working my very first event, which was a wedding, I was hooked! I knew this was what I wanted to do for myself and still enjoy helping people in the process. I decided I wanted to start my own event staffing company here in the DFW area so I took the chance. I have booked and worked several events since starting on my own in July 2021 and have received great reviews from all my clients that I have worked with so far. I am thrilled to have something to call my own and to be able to meet new people and help make whatever special event they have even more special.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
I started by using a website that sends leads via email and still use it for the most part. Here lately some of the leads that I have been receiving for events have been referrals from clients that I have worked with already.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
The customer satisfaction reviews have been a big help for me. When I speak to a client and they say they chose me because of my reviews it makes me smile.
