Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nora B. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Nora, appreciate you joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
It depends on a person’s definition of what being successful means. The stereotype of a successful person is someone living a lavish life, super-wealthy, having twenty mansions, yachts, super fancy cars, etc. Success could be measured by completing your to-do list, then rewarding yourself by binge-watching the latest Marvel show/movie.
Sometimes the journey to success takes longer for some people compared to others. You baked an awesome cake; You were successful! You completed the latest video game even though it kept kicking your butt for hours. Another victory!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I like working on different types of projects. I started working on creating Japanese typographic pieces thanks to my continuous journey in learning the language and culture. Once in a while, I’ll work on an illustration. Sometimes it’s an art prompt or fanart of a character. I also like animating stuff! Like, my audio visualizer or asking my amazing followers on Instagram to give me a word to animate.
I’m most proud of my friends and community. Thanks to them, two of my designs were part of Uniqlo’s UT!me customization program, and featured in some of their flagship stores. The main reason I started an online shop is because of their support and encouragement. Also, because they told me to put my designs on a shirt.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being an artist is being able to explore your imagination and make some pretty cool stuff! Sometimes you want to draw a giant dinosaur or create an elaborate typographic poster. You have the creative freedom and ability to do so.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Learning Japanese and hopefully being somewhat fluent is a goal that helps motivate my work. It helps reinforce the characters, words, and phrases I’ve learned.
