We were lucky to catch up with Nomakhosi Ndebele recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Nomakhosi, thanks for joining us today. One of the toughest things about progressing in a creative career or as an entrepreneur is that there are almost always unexpected problems that come up – problems that you often can’t read about in advance, can’t prepare for, etc. Have you had such and experience and if so, can you tell us the story of one of those unexpected problems you’ve encountered?
So, as a creative entrepreneur, one of the biggest hurdles I constantly navigate is what I like to call “idea overload.” Picture this: you’re in the zone, creativity flowing, and suddenly you’re hit with a flood of brilliant ideas. It’s like standing in the middle of a brainstorm storm – exhilarating yet overwhelming at the same time.
Initially, my instinct is to dive headfirst into all these incredible concepts and bring them to life simultaneously. But, through trial and error, I’ve learned a vital lesson – patience is indeed a virtue. Instead of spreading myself thin across multiple projects, I’ve discovered the power of focusing on one significant idea at a time.
Now, let me share a common scenario many creative folks can relate to. Say you’re working on a client project that demands your attention, and at the same time, you have a personal passion project that’s been tugging at your heartstrings. It’s tempting to tackle them both at once, but that often leads to burnout and diluted results.
I’ve found that by honing in on one big idea, giving it the time and dedication it deserves, I can truly bring it to its full potential. Sure, it can be tough to resist the urge to work on all your ideas right away, especially when you’re deeply connected to each one. But I’ve seen firsthand that every idea has its own timeline for growth and blossoming.
In the end, I’ve realized that success isn’t just about having amazing ideas – it’s about executing them effectively. By nurturing each concept patiently and allowing it to mature naturally, I’ve witnessed firsthand how the right ideas come to life at the perfect moment.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Grief and loss have been my greatest teachers and have shaped my journey in unexpected ways. The pain of saying goodbye to those I hold dearest has led me to a profound understanding. It is through grief that I have learned to break myself apart, allowing the carefully constructed pieces of my inner world to break free. In this tragic yet beautiful process, I have uncovered my essence and unearthed a reservoir of inner fortitude. This is the crux of my narrative. It is through the dismantling of barriers that I have gained the skills to reconstruct on solid foundations, fortify my resilience, and discover a renewed sense of inner power. This personal journey has given me a unique perspective and a wellspring of empathy, empowering me to connect with clients on a deeper level and bring an understanding of the transformative power that can arise from life’s most profound and challenging moments.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Building my audience on social media, particularly on Instagram and Pinterest, has been a journey of evolution. Initially, these platforms served as personal outlets for self-expression. However, the dynamic shifted as I transitioned them into business accounts. This transformation required a deliberate refinement of my messaging and a deeper understanding of my target market. The growth of my audience was slow and organic, a testament to the patience and persistence needed in the digital space. I learned the importance of consistency, authenticity, and engagement. For those just starting out, my advice is to remain true to your vision while being adaptable. Understand that building a meaningful presence takes time, and each post should be thoughtful and align with the broader goal of genuinely connecting with your audience. Remember, it’s not just about numbers but about cultivating a community that resonates with your brand’s ethos.
