Hi Noemi, thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?

My passion for filmmaking has been ingrained in me from a very early age. I was introduced to the world of cinema when my father would take me to film sets in Mexico, where I had the unique opportunity to make my debut as an extra in a music video at the tender age of three. The art of filmmaking runs deeply within my family, and these formative experiences allowed me to witness the intricate workings behind the scenes, from the collaborative efforts of numerous individuals to the culinary extravagance on set.

As I matured, my fascination with film grew, prompting me to actively engage in various educational programs spanning middle school, high school, and college. These academic pursuits solidified my unwavering commitment to pursuing a professional career within the realm of film production.

My primary areas of interest within the world of film lie in the domains of production and directing. The process of conceptualizing, budgeting, and working closely with the cast to bring a vision to life is an immensely creative and enchanting endeavor. Each day in this industry presents novel challenges and experiences, fostering a perpetual sense of excitement. Throughout my journey, I have had the privilege of working on an array of projects, including short films, feature films, music videos, commercials, testimonial videos, and public service announcements. This diverse array of creative outlets has afforded me the opportunity to explore the multifaceted facets of video and filmmaking.

My work has taken me to various locations, including Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Los Angeles, Texas, New Mexico, and many more, providing a rewarding blend of travel and creativity in my pursuit of what I love most.

Noemi Lopez is a Mexican-American alumna of the University of Tampa, currently based in Miami, Florida. She is an actively engaged member of Women in Film and Television and a distinguished alumnus of Delta Kappa Alpha Cinematic Arts Fraternity.

Noemi’s journey in the world of cinema has been nothing short of remarkable. She had the exceptional privilege of being selected to attend The Cannes Film Festival, where she held a coveted three-day pass. During her time at Cannes, Noemi actively participated in filmmaking workshops, engaged in insightful Q&A sessions with renowned directors, and had the prestigious opportunity to grace the red carpet.

Armed with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film and Media Arts, complemented by a minor in Business Administration, Noemi has honed her skills as a multifaceted talent in the industry. Proficient as a producer, director, and cinematographer, she possesses a diverse skill set that underscores her commitment to excellence.

Noemi’s ambitious vision for the future revolves around establishing her own film company, where she aspires to be a catalyst for cinematic success within her community. Her ultimate aspiration is nothing short of remarkable: to be lauded and celebrated at the pinnacle of the film industry, the Academy Awards, where she dreams of triumphantly claiming an Oscar.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

One of the most fulfilling aspects of being a creative individual lies in the ability to articulate the internal visions, dreams, and ideas that dwell within us. It serves as a unique opportunity to express these concepts free from the constraints of judgment. The art of creation inhabits a distinct realm where fellow creators can join us on our journey, adding their unique perspectives to transform our visions into breathtaking realities – where abstract thoughts evolve into captivating images on the screen, conveying the profound messages concealed within our narratives.

Upon the presentation of these concepts, creative minds converge, breathing fresh life into the original idea, birthing new concepts or alternative universes that spring forth from the fertile ground of imagination. The exhilaration of sharing this creative process with others is boundless, for it is a realm where the possibilities are limitless, and the joy lies in the inexhaustible wellspring of ideas waiting to be explored and enjoyed by all.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

The driving force propelling my creative odyssey is a singular aspiration: to attain the pinnacle of cinematic recognition – an Oscar. I envision myself striding confidently down the illustrious red carpet, poised amidst the dazzling paparazzi, and gracing the esteemed panel discussions, where I’ll expound upon my artistic vision and the pivotal decisions that culminated in my award-winning film. Yet, as a Mexican-American woman navigating the labyrinthine landscape of the United States, I have encountered the pervasive specter of stereotypical preconceptions, which at times can be daunting.

The incessant undercurrent of gender bias and ethnic stereotypes casts a shadow over my path, particularly in an industry where male dominance has been the norm. However, the shifting tides of societal consciousness offer a glimmer of optimism. Programs and organizations dedicated to empowering women have emerged, resolute in their mission to counteract the negative narratives that persist. This burgeoning support network is a wellspring of inspiration as I progress along my creative expedition.

I am acutely aware that this journey is not a sprint but an enduring marathon. With each passing year, I glean invaluable insights within my professional sphere, edging ever closer to the ultimate destination. As I draw nearer to my cherished goal, the crescendo of contentment within me swells, affirming that my unwavering commitment to this path is, indeed, the source of profound joy.
