Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Noah Urrutia. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Noah, appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
What made me pursue being a creative was me getting hurt and having football being taken away from me. I tore my ACL in high school and had a couple more knee surgeries after that a few years later due to football-related injuries, Football was my first ever passion & I played it most of my life until my injuries said no more for you.
With that, I started toying around with music in my senior year of high school & just freestyle for fun. I found myself doing it more and more while it turned into a growing passion for me. I took all of college to learn the basics while my roommate would produce beats, so that was a great learning experience.
What made me pursue music even more is the fact that you can make your own unique pieces of art from your own unique experiences! I’m a high-energy person, so I like to incorporate a lot of the sports references & aspects in. my music to represent my personality and where I stem from. I also aim to represent all the people who have been overlooked, counted out, and blown off just like I have most of my life. Whether it’s in the classroom, on the field, in social gatherings, in music, etc., I want to make it apparent to those people like me that you’re not alone. I’m one to notice the little things that make others stand out to me, so my music is my way of saying I see you making moves, I know what it feels like to be the underdog, we can help each other win by just our pure motivation that we drive off of.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I grew up in Palm Desert, California & I’m a big sports fan of the Steelers and Pirates. I have been a partial business owner of The Creative Collective LLC for a little over a year, where I assist with hosting open mics & networking events trying to get other artists to get connected with each other & showcase their talents. We have built a solid community out in the San Fernando Valley & look forward to expanding as well as influencing others to become the rising stars they are in their creative journeys!
What sets me apart from others is my leadership mentality & ambition to make things happen. My leadership aspect originally came from sports as I was almost always the leader of my team. I have been in many situations where I got to put the team first, be a supportive & uplifting teammate, and lead everyone by example. I take pride in being in that role model position and it has made me excel in driving other people that I work with to do better and motivate them, whether that be in the workplace, open mic events, or even creating good habits for others.
With that being said, I’m most proud of how positive I have gotten others to become while working with them as well as becoming a college graduate during a tough time period of COVID. It’s good to know that all my hard work has paid off so far. I encourage others reading this to have that persistence & willpower to keep working at what you’re dedicated to doing because it will pay off sooner rather than later if you stay focused.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being a creative to me is gaining organic support and relationships from anyone.
Being a creative/artist these days is hard, so I think even just a simple “Nice job” from someone goes a long way. It’s refreshing and uplifting to hear that from someone that isn’t your friend/family because it really shows that your work stood out to them in some way. I also think that supporting each other is a win-win, so I always show love to artists that are doing the same thing as I am by putting myself out there.
I have also built a lot of solid relationships with others from being involved with music, so I am grateful for putting myself in those positions to make that happen. All of this is a learning experience too. When I first started, I had gone through some relationships with people I used to be associated with that I needed to move on from. So, going through that gives me the knowledge of what to look out for in people that are trying to be involved in my life. I am so thankful for all my close friends & family I have on my side right now that have supported me through this journey, so all that goes a long way for me.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I think the best way to support creatives in society is to be genuinely interested with the art they are showcasing & show that it stands out to you. Whether that be in person, from a video you see online, or a song you hear from your spotify radio, any recognition/compliment can make any artist’s day.
I’ve been doing my part in that with my business at The Creative Collective LLC. We host open mics every month in the San Fernando Valley and encourage artists to work on stage presence & networking skills with each other. A lot of people have given us great feedback on how we host our events and how much growth they’ve gotten in their music journey from the opportunities we provide them. I personally have lots of fun hosting events & seeing other creatives do their thing on the stage because it’s entertaining/inspiring for me as a like-minded individual chasing the same goals.
