We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Noah Tesfu a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Noah, thanks for joining us today. Please tell us about starting your own firm and if you’d do anything different knowing what you know now.
I started in 2017 I began doing photography for local clubs which then stemmed off to me learning how to DJ do graphics and shooting music videos which me learning all of this what I would have done differently is honestly not too much but I would’ve maybe focus on one craft with 100% but either way, it’s not too much of a problem because I still hold each one of my talents at a very high professional level if I had to give advice to anyone that wants to do what I do or any other profession I would say, write up a plan from A-to-Z because once you write up that plan, it will be easier for you to get to your destination because you’ll know what you need and what you don’t need is kind of like picking out classes for college If you don’t know what you wanna do in college, you end up picking random classes which don’t even help with your major but if you have a destination then it’ll be easier for you to get there.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
The way I got into the industry was unplanned I was fresh outta high school and then was just about to enter college me and my friend decided to just go out one night in the place that we ended up at the owner was super friendly and conversation and was just picking up our brains asking what we do etc. And I ended up telling him I took pictures which led him to hire me for a gig and from then on, I would be on a weekly schedule, which led me to their tissue in downtown and end up, shooting for a big artist. I started with photography, but where I am known for now is for my DJing skills. The type of work that I offer. It’s really for anyone that needs help with marketing. Anything that could advance their business whether it’s if you need pictures for your event or you need a video for promotion or you need flyers or if you want to make a song or any kind of production I always say it’s easier to hire me then to hire 10 people and I think that’s what makes me so unique in why I’m here in the position that I’m at… Well, I want people to know about me is that I am always consistently working on myself every day every hour every second there’s not a moment that I don’t do my craft every day. I love to show people what they want to see. They don’t know I have many things planned for the years to come. To all my clients followers and fans. There were being no DJ PLAYBOY if y’all didn’t show the support and love y’all do .

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I think the lesson that I had to learn is that we careful how much you give out and to expect from people because I’m the type of person that I believe in you I will go 150% in anything and everything but sometimes people don’t believe in that it’s always ended up to be one-sided but I would say make sure you always invest in yourself before you invest into the others cause you never know peoples intentions
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think what would help is always paying for the right advertisement but then yet sometimes you have to go out there and really socialize and go meet people cause that’s the only way you are going to get an authentic and real relationship and I think having a real personality is good always be real with everyone because once people see that then they can build trust and loyalty with you and it makes doing business easier instead of it being wishy-washy or one-sided
