We recently connected with Noah Powell and have shared our conversation below.
Noah, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
I am working to build a legacy of being able to achieve his goals through any battle. Also, I look to help others and have a positive impact on the world. I want to leave behind the tools for my future family to create their own success. In the end, I know I will be remembered for my wisdom and willingness to spread anything I know to help, as well as my determination and who I am as a person.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
For anyone that may not know me, I’m Noah Powell and I’m from Cleveland, Ohio. I am a musician, producer, engineer, and a business owner of my company “Grind Like a Boss.” I got into music because of my family, more specifically my parents and my older brother. Coming from a family that is so musically inclined, I guess it’s in my blood to make and create music as I’ve been writing rap songs since I was 9 years old. I learned how to play the guitar, keyboard, make beats, and engineer over the years and look to perfect my craft to be able to teach to others who share the same interests and love for it. I’ve used my passion for music to create my own company “Grind Like a Boss’ with my co-owner Mecca Lewis and build connections with multiple people around the world. I have produced rap albums and songs for artists in my city and have released my fair share of music through my early 20s (GLB Bagg), but am looking to take my knowledge and use it to help others. Discipline is so important to everything in life because in order to achieve goals and continue to grow, thrive, and elevate your have to put the work in even when you don’t want to. Also, you have to be willing to learn and absorb knowledge from those that are in positions you want to be in yourself. For “Grind Like a Boss” we are working on a rebrand and perfecting what we want to put out and provide for the best quality so for now, I won’t talk too much about it until its all ready to go. What sets me apart is my willingness to learn, absorb knowledge, and be the best at maximizing knowledge and opportunity to achieve what I want for myself and family. I want people to be able to meet me, have a conversation with me, do business, etc and say to themselves “wow, that one thing he said or did was something I needed.” and be better because of it. I would say what I’m most proud of is the impact I’ve already been able to leave on people over the years doing something that I love to do.
Have you ever had to pivot?
I feel like you always have to be prepared to pivot when it comes to anything because you have to adapt. I’ve had to pivot when it comes to music and how I approach it. Growing up with music, I wanted to be famous like the rappers I grew up listening to when I was a kid. But as I got older, I realized that that wasn’t what I wanted out of music and instead shifted my focus onto giving back and teaching others how to do whatever they’re looking to do with music. That brings joy back to music for me because I am putting myself in the position and taking on the challenge of providing knowledge to the next person who wants to play the guitar, learn how to mix and master, make beats, or anything else when it comes to music. While doing so, that allows me to create a new avenue business wise because it provides so much more opportunity to me with more certifications.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
A couple of books definitely have impacted my mindset recently. Honestly, I didn’t enjoy reading that much when I was younger, but as I’ve Gotten older, Ive come to enjoy reading, mainly about peoples lives and stories, as well as books that can teach you a skill or life lesson. I really enjoyed Gucci Mane’s book “The Gucci Mane Guide to Greatness” as well as 50 Cent’s “Hustle Harder Hustle Smarter.” Books like those just motivate me even more to go even harder and always keep my mind thinking about new things. I also like to watch a lot of interviews with successful business owners or people in general because those also motivate me and keep me staying on top of my game.
