We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Noah Johnson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Noah, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you take vacations? Why or why not?
I believe that it is healthy for everyone to take vacations, no matter what you’re occupation is. For me personally within the creative field, a vacation means I can truly put my mind to rest. Your brain is a muscle, and like the rest of your muscles, they need to time to rest and heal.
A vacation helps me come back into the working world with a fresh mind and a new creative outlet. Perhaps I picked up some inspiration of my vacation, or I’m more inspired by the art and cultures I see. Every vacation is different and with that I think it’s a beautiful start to the next creative process you may have.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into photography and videography as a child just loving to take images. I spent a lot of my time looking at magazines in the grocery store and always watching television when I was home. I am mostly proud for being able to bring peoples visions to display, whether that be in a artsy photo or a entertaining music video. Being able to connect with an individual and bring their ideas to fruition is something I take pride in, but at the end of the day, creating genuine connections and a community around art is what I love to do.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Social media plays a key-role in getting a ton of eyes on your art. It may seem like a hassle to be consistently online, but I do veiw it in part of the hussle-n-bussle of being an artist.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Being able to make someones thoughts come into a more physical (or digital) form. Seeing the joy in someones vision come to life in front of their eyes is one of my most rewarding feelings.
