We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Noah Jensen. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Noah below.
Noah, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
One of the reasons I love and appreciate my parents so deeply is because they let me pursue my passion for music. Aside from keeping me grounded in my faith in God, I would say giving me the freedom to pursue music was the thing I’m most grateful for from them. From the age of 5, music has been an integral part of my life. Not long after that was when I knew it was something I wanted to do forever. Throughout every step of the way my parents encouraged me. From quitting sports in high school to more fully pursue music, to going off to college to learn the music business and how to audio engineer. Throughout it all, I know they’ve prayed to God to bless my journey, and for God to show me His plans for my life. I’m well aware of the countless parents out there who tell their kids their dream is too risky, and that they should pursue other things. I’m grateful my parents were not those people.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Noah Jensen, i’m a musician, music producer, and audio engineer based in Atlanta, GA. I really got tapped into the industry when I was in college at York College of Pennsylvania. I was in school to learn about the industry, but much of my learning happened off campus. I took an internship at Studio 117 York in 2018, where I had the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of a recording studio. The internship turned into a part time job, where I handled artist publishing and distribution for our regular clients. When I graduated in 2020, my family and I moved to Georgia, about 90 minutes outside of Atlanta. It was isolating as a creative to be in rural Georgia, knowing that opportunity was a good distance away, so I took time and created opportunities for myself to go to the city and get in the studio. I’ve got to show love to my brother, Sno0py Watts. We’ve been locked in working and making beats since 2021, and he’s been a great friend and mentor in helping me navigate the industry as well.
My main gig is traveling around the country, audio engineering for corporate events, stage managing festivals, and working in other avenues of live event production.
Aside from live production, I currently play acoustic shows as one half of the duo, Jensen & Thomas, a cover band that lives in the country and folk genres.
Additionally, i’m working on building my music production company.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
When I went to college in the fall of 2016, my major was called Music Industry and Recording Technology. We learned about entertainment law and copyright, the music industry as a whole, and everything one would think they’d need to know about the business. The funny thing about the music industry, is I don’t believe you can teach it in a classroom. You have to go out there an do it and be in it for real. There are certain aspects you can teach by the book, a lot of the law material being one of those things, but I didn’t figure this out until I was actually working in the industry in Atlanta. When you walk into a studio situation for example, nobody is asking to see that degree. People want to know what value you bring the situation.
It was a frustrating reality. I don’t say this to look down on higher education, as I feel I still benefitted in a lot of ways. I say this because I had to understand that my music business degree wasn’t a ticket into the music business. In a way I had to restart, taking bits and pieces of what I learned in the classroom and applying it to the current situation.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect is seeing your work come to life. There’s no better feeling than waking up to new music with your name attached to it. To me, it means a lot because I get to witness the things I prayed for and worked towards come to fruition.
