We were lucky to catch up with NOA MAZAR recently and have shared our conversation below.
NOA, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
My parents would probably tell you i was born a drama queen. My dad has this story about how the only way he could get me to sleep was if he danced around with me in his arms in the middle of the night when i was a baby . Music spoke to me , movement, action.
music was always around me because my dad is a musician (among many other things)
From a really young age, It was obvious to me and everyone around me that i would find myself in entertainment. i was participating in plays, taking dance classes, making music videos with my friends.
When i was 12, My dad (who is a diplomat) got placed here, in LA, and my mom pushed me to sign up for acting classes. Thats when we all knew i was meant for this world. i had so much fun, the stage always felt like home to me and standing in front of a camera felt natural. i learned pretty quickly that there is no other option for me and i have to do what i love.
My hosting/interviewing came later, as i started to develop my skills and kind of fell into it by accident. I love it and feel super comfortable meeting so many interesting individuals with so many different life stories and accomplishments.,
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a 25 year old Israeli-Italian actress, Host/interviewer and Singer/Songwriter. I have been an actress since birth , always putting on shows and thriving in front of crowds.
I love being able to use my craft to make people feel, inform the audience of things they didn’t know and provide entertainment, make people happy.
I do that through all of my platforms.
I am a very proud Israeli. As the daughter of a diplomat, i have strong roots and a big desire to spread awareness about my culture, country and its history. A lot of the projects i do today have to do with that exact cause.
I think that using creativity and art is a great tool to get today’s generation to listen and spark curiosity.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I think that with any form of art, the creator is trying to influence its audience in one way or another.
I love all the content i make for Israel. Thats my heart and my home an i will never stop representing it with pride. I know my family sees my work and feels proud. I feel privileged to be able to educate, expose and explain.
For me, in my work, if a funny scene made someone laugh, and an intense dramatic scene made someone shed a tear, or relate in any way – thats the only thing i can ask for from this whole thing. its a big thing for me, making another human feel something. how amazing is that?
When i’m on a red carpet, interviewing, its all about the person i am standing in front of the camera with. It’s their moment – i’m just there to help put an emphasis on them , their accomplishments or whatever it is that they have to say.
I think whats rewarding about that is always the feeing that i get when the talent walks away, feeling good, feeling heard. i always try my best to personalize, to prepare beforehand so the questions i ask are specific to this talent and benefits their main goal and what they are promoting in that moment.
finishing a song is rewarding – you have some kind of vision of what you want the song to sound like or what you want to say, and then all of aa sudden you have a full track that sounds better than what you imagined in your head. it’s crazy.
And same goes for music – music moves people. I don’t know how i would live without it. it has helped me through my hardest times and i would hope to do the same for somebody else.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I always knew that in order to make this dream come true i would have to really put myself in uncomfortable situations. i have such a long way to go , but i think that getting up and moving from israel to LA at age 21, on my own, was a necessary step for my maturity and growth. i would say thats when my resilience comes to show. getting over the bumps in the road on my own and knowing that there is a bigger purpose, letting it drive and motivate me to keep chasing this impossible life, even when it gets rough. I love the challenge, it is all worth it.
