We recently connected with N’Kima Russell and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, N’Kima thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
A Queen on the chessboard is the most powerful piece of all, and a good Queen in a monarchial government is required to be a strong tower and cornerstone, and a resource to her people. I am Queen Kima of Queendom Arts Enterprises which encompasses all things development. My mission in life is to positively impact the lives of those I encounter through my gifts and abilities. All things Queendom are all things development, and I aim to set the example for what positive impact truly means.
N’Kima, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Dallas, Texas native that has lived and traveled all over the nation, making me an extremely diverse person when it comes to American culture. I have been placed in positions of leadership since middle school when I was awarded for my work with my special needs classmates and was first exposed to my natural gift for sales when I was awarded at my first job for making $10K in sales in one shift. I went on to do this several more times there. Growing up I was always active in the arts and received professional training from age 11 through college. My academic excellence, leadership skills, and creative nature all came to a merge in 2017 when I founded Queendom Arts Production to help bridge the gap I saw in small business owners’ ability to effectively market themselves.
I am currently focused on developing entrepreneurs through my role as Director of Community Development at Connected Dallas, as well as through consulting my clients in the areas of sales and brand message development. Most small business owners waste tons of time and money trying to create a plan to make their business profitable when the problem is either the audience they’re talking to, their message, or both. I bridge this gap by actively listening and strategizing a more effective way of executing the original goal that was usually abandoned on a mission to make money.
What sets me a part is my wide variety of industry experience, my heart for people that sees past the money my clients make me, and my efficacy ratings. We don’t fail!
I am most proud of my ability to effectively pivot through COVID and to make a full circle to where I started in my business while also seeing a 83% growth rate in the value of contracts closed within my business in the past year. I am excited to continue to grow in my abilities, reach more people, and create more wealth for small business owners in the DFW Metroplex.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I am who I say that I am.
In the consulting industry, we are getting paid for our words – an expression of our background knowledge and history of success. There are many people in the city who, unfortunately, do not back up the reputation that precedes them. I am to expose this and not by being aggressive, negative, or accusatory. I aim to build a platform on solid ground that speaks for itself in the work that I do and what my clients have to say about working with me.
I put the hearts of people first, and I hold myself to an even higher standard than what I require from those working with me. This prioritization of ethical business ownership certainly sets me a part from the masses.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
At the top of my website it states ” Customer Experience is the Best Billboard” because it’s true. At least 80% of my clients are referred. I do not spend money running ads or campaigns because my work speaks for itself. This isn’t to say that I don’t believe in advertising, but the first thing I do with a new client is discourage them from putting all their time, attention, money, and efforts into impulse initiatives. Building relationships has been, and still is, the most effective way to grow any business in any market at any size.
