We were lucky to catch up with Nirva Orisca recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nirva , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How do you think about vacations as a business owner? Do you take them and if so, how? If you don’t, why not?
My love for travel began after I had my son. Postpartum depression can creep in and knock you down, but I was determined to rise above it. I wanted to find something to get me out of the funk I was in, and solo travel came to mind.
“My first trip alone was such a liberating experience I was committed to going on a solo trip every year. Traveling alone forced me out of my comfort zone, forced me to meet new people, be more open minded to different cultures, and expanded my network.” – Nirva
I have been to 25 countries across 5 continents as of today and have plans to visit many more. My favorite countries in no order are Seychelles, South Africa, Martinique, Dubai, France, and Costa Rica. I not only travels solo, but I also travels with my family so I can show my son different cultures outside of the United States. My son himself has been to 10 countries such as Jamaica, Spain, France, Aruba, and more. Living your “best” life is doable, it just takes discipline and determination.
My goal is 3 vacation per year.
1) Family vacation with my kids and my parents.
2) Vacation with my significant other or girlfriends.
3) and my favorite one is my Solo vacation as i refer to as my self-care time.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Nirva and I was born in Haiti but has resided in Boston for the past 25 years. I have a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources from Salem State University and a master’s degree in Higher Education from Northeastern University. I am currently an assistant bursar at one of the top universities in Massachusetts.
I am a woman who wears many hats. I am a mother, a sister, a cousin, as well as an event curator, traveler, translator, and content creator. I embody every role with an exponential amount of poise, grace, and of course while looking chic. When it comes to travel, fashion or anything luxurious, I am your girl!
My main goal in my platform is to show people that you can still live and enjoy life while taking care of your responsibilities. To me, all things are achievable if you work and plan for it.
“I didn’t want to believe my life was over when I became a single mom, so I found a way to take care of my son and his future without neglecting myself as an individual. So, to all the mothers out there, especially the single mothers, you too can live the life you want.”
– Nirva
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The particular mission driving my creative journey is to have mothers experience a life that they believe they can no longer have because they’ve entered motherhood. When I had my child I thought this was it for me and my life was my child’s. However, I learned that I can still enjoy “me time” and still live the luxury life I want for myself.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is that I have continuously stepped out of my comfort zone. and by doing that it led me here. I took that leap of faith and went on a solo trip and that has changed my life forever. Because of that courage I am now able to help others and their traveling experiences.
