Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nini Mosiashvili. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Nini , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
გამარჯობა! (Hello in Georgian, pronounce Gamar-joba),
I’m Nini, the founder of Ninimosi Designs and the creator of every single piece of jewelry you see in my brand. I am from country of Georgia, currently residing in Philadelphia area.
I was 10 years old when my grandmother took our family’s heirloom silver spoons to a local silversmith and had them transformed into tiny bangles for me. There were 10 of them. They were so small that as I grew, it was really hard to take them off, so I always kept them on. The only time they came off was during airport security checks or when I was in labor with my three children. These bangles ignited my love for silver, inspiring me to collect unique pieces from all over the world, especially during my travels to exotic countries, which is my other passion. I still wear them all the time.
In 2018, I moved to the US from Georgia, with my husband and 3 children temporarily, for a better education for our children. Coming from a busy corporate IT world, I finally had the time and opportunity to embrace my passion and learn silversmithing in a local art school. When Covid hit, I practiced my soldering skills on my gas stove. With time and dedication, I gathered enough tools to set up my own studio, where my inspirations are brought to light!
In 2021, I traveled to Zanzibar, Africa, with my friends, where I, for the first time, presented my handmade pieces to them. They convinced me that I needed to do something with my passion to be able to share it with the world. When I came back to the US, I continued to master my skill with additional silversmithing courses. While experimenting and finding my unique style, the thought of creating my own jewelry brand never left me. I’ve never done my own business before, so I had no clue where to begin.
In 2023, I enrolled in a jewelry marketing program, which helped me figure out and understand everything I needed to lay the correct foundation for creating a brand. That’s how Ninimosi Designs was born. In January 2024, I started having active sales of my jewelry, participated in multiple arts and craft shows, held multiple private store pop-ups around Philadelphia, created my own website, learned product photography and editing, and started rolling out online sales through my social media pages and my website. I’ve also received multiple offers from national and international stores to stock my jewelry and at this point, only the sky is the limit.
I aim to create jewelry that celebrates stories we all carry within us, jewelry that is a conversation starter, little pieces of empowerment that let you showcase your spirit and the things you stand for. I believe in the power of jewelry to champion self-expression and celebrate your own story, story of a woman who values freedom, loves life to the fullest, cherishes the beauty of this planet, and tries to find peace in this sometimes-crazy world. These are the collectible pieces for women who feel naked without their jewelry on.
I’m on a mission to shatter the “starving artist” myth. Jewelry making is my passion, but I also believe it can be a thriving business. This journey is just a beginning, and I have big plans for Ninimosi’s future. Not only do I want to share my love for jewelry with the world, but I also dream of inspiring others to embrace their passions and turn them into something extraordinary. Perhaps one day, I can even teach the next generation of jewelry enthusiasts, ensuring this beautiful craft continues to thrive.

Nini , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I think my previous answer sort of covered this part too. The only thing I would like to add that I hand forge the metal. I don’t use any kind of casting method to multiply my pieces, therefore everything I create, is one of a kind, even the designs that I repeat. My ambition is to create a truly niche brand, where every piece of jewelry portrays the action and feeling of an artisan and the inspiration behind it. My jewelry has a soul, it’s alive and I am sure my customers feel this when they wear Ninimosi.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Ninimosi is a niche brand. It sells one of a kind jewelry for one of a kind clientele. I aspire to nurture and take care of each and every client that wants to enjoy my jewelry. They are special to me and care about them like I care about most precious things in life, not only because they are my clients, but because I share with them the energy with which I design and create my jewelry. It is the process that goes into making each piece that makes handmade so special. The artist goes through multiple emotional stages when creating a piece of art with their hands, because you think about the million things, you feel about the million things, you get tired and frustrated while working, and then you see the final result: the excitement, the sense of achievement, and love, all rush through your body. and you are ready to dance. When someone purchases my piece of jewelry and I package it (I also design my own packaging and it’s all individual and earth-friendly), the feeling I get is almost like sending your first born child to college. I send all my love and good energy with it. So my clients feel it and they know that they have just treated them to truly one of a kind piece of art that is also high quality and timeless, they can pass it down to generations. I also include lifetime guarantee for all my jewelry pieces in case they break, they can always send it back and I will fix it for them for free of charge. So my effective strategy for my clientele is special service and treatment they feel every time they shop at Ninimosi.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson of starving artist myth was deeply engraved in me when I started my jewelry business journey. I was born in Georgia during Soviet Union, where everyone was taught that everyone, no matter how much they do, learn, or achieve, is worth the same salary and dreaming about better life was not allowed. As a child, I used to love to draw and paint and when adults asked me what I want to be when I grow up, I said ” I want to be an artist”. When it was time for me to choose a profession, my grandfather ( a very successful surgeon, with very basic salary, who was very talented artist but kept it only as his hobby) told me that if I’m not a Picasso, I will be a starving artist selling my art on a bridge. I chose to be an economist and later worked in IT field for 13 years, but I never thought I was capable of doing what I actually love to do and especially make a successful business out of it. It took me a major mind-set work, which I still do on daily basis, to believe in my success, and to learn how to dream about big things possible.
