We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nina Silver. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nina below.
Hi Nina, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
In the drafting and rendering space, the industry standard can feel very transactional; designers send drawings, get files back, and that’s it. But at Drafted by Design, we intentionally built something different. We aren’t just a service provider; we’re a partner to interior designers.
We take time to understand each designer’s workflow, preferences, and quirks so that we become an extension of their team. Our focus on flexibility, communication, and attention to detail means we’re anticipating needs rather than simply reacting to requests.
Another big difference: We prioritize building a workplace culture that supports our team as whole people, not just production machines. Many firms emphasize speed over quality and burnout is rampant—but we value sustainable growth and fulfilling personal lives, which in turn leads to better work for our clients.
One of my favorite examples of this difference was when a new designer we worked with said, “I wanted to personally thank all of you for your hard work and diligence and making our deadline. The renderings looked great and were well received from the client.” That level of care is what sets us apart and it’s exactly what we’re proud to offer.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m the founder of Drafted by Design, a remote drafting and rendering studio built to support interior designers who want to work smarter, not harder. I’ve always known interior design was my path, but over my 15-year career I honed in on the technical side rather than client-facing selections and relationships. My passion lies in translating a designer’s creative vision into precise, buildable documents that make the entire process smoother for everyone involved.
We offer AutoCAD drafting, SketchUp rendering, an expanding CAD resource library, and now Revit drafting, which allows us to work seamlessly with designers who want to boost efficiency or are embracing BIM workflows. This means we can support designers at all stages and in a variety of formats, from simple as-builts to complex construction documents.
What sets us apart is how we work. We’re not just a vendor sending files; we act as an extension of each designer’s team. We take time to understand their workflow, preferences, and priorities so our deliverables are aligned with their needs. Clear communication, reliability, and obsessive attention to detail are baked into everything we do.
I’m most proud of the fact that our work allows interior designers to reclaim their time and focus on their creative genius while we handle the technical heavy lifting. At the same time, we’ve built a workplace where our team can do their best work without burning out.
At the end of the day, Drafted by Design is here to help designers elevate their work and run more efficient, profitable businesses. We’re committed to setting a high standard in drafting services so that designers nationwide can feel confident that their drawings are accurate, professional, and ready to build.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Our growth has always come from being an active and helpful part of the design community rather than focusing on hard sales tactics. I spend time answering questions online, sharing advice, and genuinely connecting with designers rather than pitching our services every chance I get. That approach has built trust and positioned us as a go-to resource, even before a designer becomes a client.
Word of mouth and referrals have been the backbone of our growth. Our dedication to precision, reliability, and understanding each designer’s workflow means that when one client has a great experience, they’re excited to recommend us to others. We’ve expanded simply by focusing on delivering excellent work and maintaining strong relationships, and that philosophy continues to drive our success.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Our reputation has been built on consistency and reliability. In an industry where designers juggle countless moving parts, being able to trust that a drafter will deliver clean, accurate work on time is invaluable and that trust does not happen by accident.
We have invested heavily in internal systems and processes that ensure every project is organized, tracked, and reviewed carefully. That consistency means our clients experience the same high standard every time, no matter the project size or who on our team is assigned.
We also stand out because we are trained designers ourselves. We are not just taking what a client gives us and drafting it blindly. We think like designers, asking the right questions to fill in gaps they may not have realized yet. We catch details and prevent issues before construction begins, helping our clients avoid costly mistakes and deliver a smoother experience for their clients.
We have focused on being adaptable as our clients’ businesses grow. Some of our earliest clients started as solo designers and now run full-scale firms, and we have scaled with them seamlessly.
At the core, it is about being a true partner, making life easier for designers while protecting the integrity of their work. That combination of dependability, expertise, and care is what has built our reputation.
