We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nina Martinez-McCaslin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nina below.
Nina , appreciate you joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later
At the time when I first started my business I was nervous on how everyone would react to not just seeing my personal pictures with my hair loss but also how would they feel when I mention I have a ‘all natural hair growth product’. I started my business at a time in my life where I was having to build everything from the ground up. it took a lot of courage to put my story out there but I knew if this product helped myself it could help anyone. Do I wish I could’ve started my business sooner? Of course. But during the pandemic I had plenty of time to think this through an finally push myself to do it.

Nina , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
When I was 16 I was diagnosed with Alopecia Areata. A autoimmune disease that attacks your hair follicles and makes your hair fall out. Mine began with small patches but eventually worked it’s way to my whole scalp. I tried all of the topical treatments and even cranial steroid shots but nothing seemed to help. Not even a tad bit. By the time I was 18 I was discharged due to how severe my case was. I was told my hair may never grow back and if it does it may be white. I stopped going after that day and began looking into natural medicine. It took some time before I could actually find my ‘recipe’ to help grow my hair. But once I had it down I continuously applied it like you would sauce on ribs or ketchup with fries. I was amazed with the progress I was making all by myself. Mind you this product is made out of nothing but herbs and spices along with a few carrier oils. I had made a product that not only cleaned out the hair follicles of any old hair products but also stimulated blood back to the scout to help with the hair growth process.
From that point on it was my mission to help all those who were going through the same problem as I was.
I not only provide the hair food but also a hair growth oil that does the same exact thing it’s just not as as thick as the hair food is.
But if hair growth products aren’t your thing I make upcycled tote bags made out of different pieces of fabric, Beautiful handmade earrings, herbal tea blends and I even have paintings for sale.
I believe what sets my business from others is the experience and trauma that I had to personally go through. If I didn’t go through any of that I don’t believe I would have as good as a product that I do now.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe being my authentic self is what helped me build my reputation. Just being open and honest about what I went through helped others to not feel ashamed of what they could possibly be going through themselves.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
For me personally networking in person is the most effective strategy for growing my clientele. I am able to answer any questions that a customer may have. I am also able to show the customer my personal before an after photo and let them see for themselves what my product can do.
