We were lucky to catch up with Nina Jefferson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nina, appreciate you joining us today. Some of the most interesting parts of our journey emerge from areas where we believe something that most people in our industry do not – do you have something like that?
In my industry, many people would likely disagree with me when I say that skillset isn’t the main focus for business success. A lot of what’s being sold is focused on learning the next sales technique, marketing strategy, or lead generation funnel. While these skills are certainly important, they are not the long-term solution to business success. The truth is, your biggest barrier to success is often not a lack of knowledge or strategy, but your own mindset and habits around how you show up regarding these issues. For example, I was in a program where they offered done for you ads. The guy had over 30 warm leads that responded to his ad and had not called a single person. The coach was emphasizing the need for timely response but at the heart of the issue was doubt (mindset/limiting beliefs) in speaking confidently, how the person would respond and fear of rejection. This highlights my point that until you work on the heart of the issues, skill will not be enough.
If your perspective is filled with limiting beliefs—such as “I’m not good enough,” “This will never work,” or “There’s not enough time or resources”—these thoughts will block your growth and keep you stuck. Similarly, poor habits like procrastination, indecisiveness, or a constant need to control everything can sabotage your success. These patterns often operate unconsciously, making them harder to recognize and address but cost you in your business.
Most people don’t want to admit that mindset and behavior play a huge role in their success, but the truth is, every human being faces negative thoughts that impact their actions and in this case–your business. It’s easy to overlook these internal barriers when you’re constantly focused on acquiring new strategies, but without a shift in perspective and the development of healthier habits, your efforts will fall short of their true potential. We all have the ability to change our mindset and behavior, and doing so is what ultimately unlocks true, lasting success in business.

Nina, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Path 2 Alignment, LLC is a passion project born from my journey through significant life transitions and the realization that entrepreneurship is more than just business skills—it’s about mindset and habits to reach peak performance. After experiencing shifts in my personal life that impacted my finances, I jumped into real estate to build generational wealth for my family. This was my entry into the entrepreneurial world, and while the skills I learned were invaluable, I quickly discovered something crucial: skill alone isn’t enough to build a sustainable business.
As I ventured further into personal development, sales, marketing, and business coaching programs, I saw a common pattern: many entrepreneurs started with excitement but struggled to finish their goals. If it weren’t for my years of training in clinical psychology and mindset mastery, I might have quit too. Building a business is tough, and anyone who tells you otherwise is probably trying to sell you some fantasy. I realized that while many programs emphasized skill-building, they often overlooked the crucial aspect of mindset and habit development—without which, success is hard to sustain.
That’s why I founded Path 2 Alignment. I wanted to create a space where entrepreneurs could focus on both their skills and their mindset/habits—because lasting success requires both. My flagship program, “Mind Your Business,” is a 12-week virtual course that combines mindset coaching, success habit formation, and practical business strategies. It also includes weekly group coaching, so entrepreneurs can build a strong, supportive community around their growth.
Additionally, I offer personalized breakthrough immersions—two-day sessions followed by 3 months of sessions where individuals can align their passion with their purpose, break free from limiting beliefs, and start creating lasting change in their lives and businesses.
Path 2 Alignment helps entrepreneurs break free from feeling stuck and overwhelmed by addressing the mental and emotional barriers that hinder progress. We guide clients to gain clarity, confidence, and momentum while shifting their mindset and cultivating resilience. Many entrepreneurs struggle with self-doubt, stress, and burnout, but our approach empowers them to replace these challenges with productive habits that drive business growth. Instead of working nonstop and feeling trapped in their business, clients learn to achieve work-life harmony and enjoy the fulfillment of building a business that supports their desired lifestyle. With Path 2 Alignment, entrepreneurs unlock their full potential, leading to sustained success and a balanced, rewarding life.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
When I first started in business, I struggled with the idea of sales and pricing, especially in a service-based industry like mine. Coming from a background in the helping professions, I spent most of my career focused on giving—whether it was counseling, coaching, or providing guidance. So, when I began to think about the business side of things, the idea of selling felt uncomfortable. I thought of sales as something pushy or manipulative, like a car salesperson trying to convince someone to buy a car they didn’t need. This made me feel like I had to be as affordable as possible, almost as if pricing my services too high would push people away.
But over time, I began to unlearn these limiting beliefs. I realized that the value I bring to the table isn’t just about the hours I put in; it’s about the transformation I help people achieve. The work I do isn’t just a quick fix; it’s life-changing. It ripples out into their business, family, and personal lives. I started to see that my services were worth far more than simply trading time for money. Pricing had to reflect the lasting impact and transformation that my expertise provides. This realization helped me to no longer be uncomfortable when discussing the investment.
I also had to let go of the belief that I was “selling” to people. Instead, I learned that I’m inviting them to invest in themselves. My role isn’t to convince anyone; it’s to offer an opportunity for growth and transformation, knowing that what I offer will change their life if applied. By worrying about what others might think or say, I was actually denying them the chance to invest in their personal development. I realized I didn’t have the right to hold back from living out my full purpose, knowing that I am uniquely equipped with both the experience and training to help others succeed. Stepping into this new mindset has been liberating, and it’s given me the courage to confidently offer my services without hesitation or self-doubt.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
After my divorce, I lost an entire salary and was left to support two kids on my own. Although I was making what most people consider “good money,” I knew I needed to do more. I had to create generational wealth outside of relying on the paycheck of another. This realization prompted a significant pivot in my career. I ventured into real estate investing starting my first business all while working full-time, with the goal of building a more secure and independent financial future. However, the transition wasn’t easy. I had to unlearn old habits, particularly around risk and money mindset, and embrace the discomfort of stepping into something unknown. This journey eventually led me to combine my background in clinical psychology with my entrepreneurial experience to found Path 2 Alignment, where I empower entrepreneurs to break through mindset barriers and build resilience for long-term success. That pivot marked a crucial turning point in both my career and personal life, teaching me that growth often comes from embracing uncertainty and making bold choices for the future.
