We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nina Ghassemzadeh. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nina below.
Nina, appreciate you joining us today. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
After signing the lease for my studio space, I went live with my website. I was officially in business! I set up a Google Maps business account and profile so that I could be found by anyone searching for a local Reiki practitioner or psychic/medium, and I invested in an ad campaign for increased visibility. A friend helped me set up a promotional ‘Reiki & Reading’ group session where I demonstrated my work and passed out my shiny new business cards.
The excitement of going live with my website gradually faded into concern over the next several weeks because no bookings had been scheduled. Then, suddenly, my phone made a sound I’d never heard before. It was a notification from the app I use to manage my website, informing me that someone had just booked an in-person Psychic Reiki session! I still recall every detail of that session with my first client. She was also a Reiki practitioner, and said that the content of my website really resonated with her. I was so nervous beforehand, but from start to finish, that appointment went better than I could’ve imagined or hoped for. It was such a powerful healing session, and the reading was so moving and meaningful to her. She felt so supported and understood that she couldn’t hold back the tears. I think it was a beautiful and memorable experience for both of us, but probably even more so for me. Afterwards, she gave her experience with me a 5-star rating and left an amazingly kind review on my Google business account. That client had no idea that she was my first official client, but I’m still so grateful for her.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Nina Ghassemzadeh. I’m a psychic, medium, and Reiki Master practitioner with a studio space in Charleston, SC. I felt motivated and compelled to open my practice, Nina Joon Psychic Reiki, because I knew what my healing sessions had to offer was unique. I was never interested in providing ‘traditional’ reiki sessions or psychic and mediumship readings, the way others do. I had spent about two years crafting an experience that could blend together those modalities to provide the recipient with a more expansive, supportive, empowering, and in-depth healing experience. I decided to call it Psychic Reiki, for simplicity.
During a Psychic Reiki session, I use Reiki [energy] to promote healing and balance within the body, mind, and soul. I will also establish a psychic connection to the recipient that can access truth, wisdom, & information straight from their higher-self [soul]. That information will often illuminate their purpose, empower them, and help them see themself in their truest form. My psychic connection also extends to the energetic [chakra] system, which helps me better understand the recipient’s emotions, behaviors, and relationships. That enables me to provide them with the best healing energy in targeted areas to best support their needs at that time. Because I tell the recipient about everything I feel, see, and experience during the Reiki session, It also helps provide clarity better and helps them learn about specific things to focus on or do that may help them feel more balanced, fulfilled, and flourish.
Meanwhile, my abilities as a medium allow me to be aware of and communicate with their guides, guardians, and loved ones in spirit, too. So much meaningful information, love, advice, healing energy, and messages can be channeled during these sessions. Sometimes, clients will experience an enhanced and profound spiritual experience while receiving Reiki; other times, it’s simply a positive and uplifting experience for them.
I’ve received such positive feedback from clients about how much their time with me has helped them attain clarity, peace, joy, and healing. That’s immensely rewarding to me! I’m dedicated to providing my clients with an authentic healing experience in an uplifting, supportive, and safe environment. Something else I’d like to share with you is that I’m continuously working behind the scenes to sharpen and expand my skills and abilities as a healer, psychic, and medium in order to help others feel more connected to themselves and their loved ones in spirit. I’m currently involved in two mentorship programs and have already participated in so many classes, workshops, and mentorships with renowned mediums and healers from across the globe.
I’m so excited to continue to grow my business and expand my ability to help others.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe that my genuine nature and the authenticity of my work have made it easy for people to trust me and the services I provide. I approach each session with an open mind and heart, ready to provide a customized healing experience that caters to the client’s needs at that moment. Delivering positive, true, and meaningful messages is so important to me. After sessions, clients often tell me how impactful and valuable the experience has been for them and that they will recommend my services to friends and family. Word of mouth has proven to be a very effective way of building my reputation within the community and surrounding areas. I love it when a client tells me they’ve never had Reiki or a psychic reading before, but they booked their appointment with me because they heard someone else talking about their experience.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
My financial approach to starting this business was calculated and reserved. I decided to maintain my full-time job in the medical industry to have a financial safety net during the process. I opened my Psychic Reiki practice with limited business hours while I built my reputation within the industry and established my clientele. It took all the savings I had to pay for the licenses, insurance, website fees, office essentials, and other necessities. I was able to co-lease a studio space at a reduced price that I could use two days a week to see clients in person, while virtual appointments were available for clients to book online on other days. That kept my rent low enough to manage when business was slow and unpredictable during the first year. I’ve been in business for about 1.5 years now and have been able to increase the number of days per week that I can accommodate in-person sessions. Currently, I still maintain a full-time job and run my new small business.
