We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nina Evans. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nina below.
Nina, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you could go back in time do you wish you had started sooner or later?
This is such a great question because it really made me reflect. The truth is: yes, I absolutely wish I had started my business sooner but I also believe I started exactly when I was supposed to.
Back in 2013, I resigned from my corporate role as an accounting analyst because I was searching for something deeper. I was in the middle of my own journey toward financial freedom, working to pay off a pile of debt. During that season, I kept hearing one word in my spirit: “teach.” I felt God nudging me to start an LLC and help others with budgeting. But because I was just beginning my own journey, I convinced myself I wasn’t qualified. I talked myself out of moving forward.
By 2019, I had finally become completely debt-free. And then in 2020, right in the middle of a global pandemic I found myself once again asking, “What is my purpose? How can I help people win financially during this crisis?” The same word from 2013 came back to me just as loudly. That’s when it clicked: my purpose hadn’t changed. I was called to help people with their finances, to guide them through budgeting, and to show them that financial freedom is possible.
So I finally stepped out on faith and launched my LLC. For the last five years, I’ve had the privilege of helping individuals and families gain control of their finances, build confidence, and start experiencing the peace that comes with clarity and stewardship.
Looking back, starting sooner might have given me more time, experience, and impact but starting when I did gave me a powerful testimony, a stronger foundation, and a level of empathy I may not have had earlier. So ultimately, I believe I started right on time. Fear delayed me, but purpose kept calling. Now I tell my clients: don’t wait to feel ready, start with what you know and grow as you go.”

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Nina Evans LLC is a financial coaching and consulting firm dedicated to helping individuals, families, small businesses, and nonprofits gain clarity, confidence, and control over their finances. My work sits at the intersection of purpose and expertise. After spending 20 years as an accounting professional in Corporate America (primarily in the utilities and oil & gas industries) I realized that many people and organizations were struggling not because they lacked money, but because they lacked systems, structure, and guidance.
That’s where I come in.
On the personal finance side, I help clients build practical, customized budgets, create debt-elimination strategies, and establish healthy money habits that support long-term freedom. My focus is on financial stewardship; equipping people to win with their money, reduce stress, and build confidence in their financial decisions.
On the business and non-profit side, I provide consulting services that transform outdated, inefficient, or non-existent financial systems into clear, streamlined processes. Whether it’s implementing accounting systems, restructuring financial workflows, or providing operational oversight, my goal is to help organizations see their financial picture with accuracy, transparency, and ease.
What truly sets me apart is a blend of technical expertise, purpose-driven passion, and a heart for people. I bring the professionalism of a corporate accountant, the strategic mindset of an analyst, and the compassion of a coach. I’ve implemented corporate databases, designed accounting systems, and supported high-level financial operations but I also know how to break complex concepts down so clients can understand, apply, and sustain them.
I’m most proud that my work changes lives beyond the numbers. When a family pays off debt they once thought was impossible, or when a small business finally gains financial clarity and stability, I know I’m walking in my calling. My mission is to show people that financial freedom is attainable and to provide the tools and support to get them there.
Above all, I want clients and followers to know that my brand is rooted in integrity, clarity, and empowerment. My passion is not just to manage numbers, but to help people and organizations move toward purpose, stability, and freedom.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One of the most defining moments of my life and the clearest illustration of my resilience happened in 2000. Just two weeks before my high school graduation, I lost my only brother, Antwonye Edwards, unexpectedly. It was my first experience with deep grief, and it changed the entire trajectory of my life.
That season was painful beyond words, yet it became the foundation of my understanding of resilience. Losing my brother showed me that even in moments that feel unbearable, I have the strength to keep moving forward. That truth has carried me through every chapter of my life.
As I grew older, I also realized how deeply that loss shaped my financial journey. I didn’t know how to process my emotions at the time, so I turned to spending as a way to numb the sadness. Shopping became a coping mechanism, a temporary distraction from a pain I didn’t yet know how to name. It wasn’t until years later that I recognized the connection between my grief and my financial habits.
But that realization is what sparked my transformation. The same resilience that helped me survive loss became the same resilience that helped me confront my financial reality, paying off over $100K of debt, and ultimately helping others do the same. My journey taught me that resilience isn’t just about enduring hard moments; it’s about rising from them with purpose.
Today, when I coach clients, I do it from a place of empathy and lived experience. I know what it feels like to hurt, to feel lost, to make decisions from a place of pain, and I also know what it looks like to rise, rebuild, and win.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
My reputation has been built on something simple but powerful: my lived experience and my willingness to be transparent about it. I don’t just teach financial principles I have lived them. From navigating grief at a young age, to overcoming the emotional spending that followed, to paying off more than $100K in debt, my journey is the foundation of everything I do.
I’ve never been ashamed of where I started, because I know my story helps people feel seen, understood, and capable of change. Clients connect with me because I’m not speaking from theory; I’m walking in the purpose that was shaped by my own real-life challenges. Losing my brother taught me resilience; becoming debt-free taught me discipline; launching my business taught me courage. And every part of that shows up in how I support others.
I also bring 20 years of professional accounting experience, but what sets me apart is the combination of expertise and empathy. People trust me because I don’t just provide solutions, I provide understanding, structure, and a safe place for them to learn, grow, and transform their relationship with money.
Ultimately, my reputation has grown because I lead with authenticity, purpose, and a genuine desire to help people win in their finances. I’m proud that my story doesn’t just belong to me anymore; +it now serves as a roadmap for others on their journey toward clarity, freedom, and financial resilience.
