We recently connected with Nina Brooks and have shared our conversation below.

Nina, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright – so having the idea is one thing, but going from idea to execution is where countless people drop the ball. Can you talk to us about your journey from idea to execution?

The idea to start was encouraged by my then boyfriend who is now my husband. I lost someone very close to me to cancer and shared my emotions with him in a text. That text sparked an the idea from him that I should write about my journey. I decided to write about it by publishing a book. In that cathartic endeavor I manifested that I should turn it into a TV Series. Two years later we were on set producing the pilot episode to our based on a true story TV Series The Lovers Lyfe. Thus giving birth to our production company.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

We are a full service film production company. We partner with award-winning creative directors, writers, producers, directors, camera operators, editors, graphic artists, and compositors. We are as well-versed at partnering with clients and agencies to bring an idea to life as we are coming up with a concept, writing a script, and delivering a final product. Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?

My business partner is also my husband. We met in the 90’s parted ways and met again on social media. We have been together for eight years and just recently celebrated one year of marriage. Being in business and marriage has it’s ups and downs but we are both passionate about what we do so it works.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

During production of our first project we experienced the pain of losing data. Our hired for work director of photography deleted a full day of production by filming over a data file. We were devastated. It felt as if all of the air in our lungs had been released and we couldn’t get it back. I spent three days wondering how to pivot but we are resilient and decided to reshoot. These are the moments that define who you are as a filmmaker. You make a decision on how to recover and execute on that decision.
