We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nima Lama a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nima, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission for now is to be able to showcase and tell stories through photos, visuals, and music. I want to keep that creativity alive, which I believe everyone has. As we get busy with life, we stop working on our creative outlets, but there is still creativity inside you that wants to be explored.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi, I’m Nima a visual storyteller and creative at heart. I find joy in creating visuals that help people express their most authentic selves whether that’s through a powerful portrait, a candid moment, or a visual narrative that speaks louder than words. My passion lies in helping individuals and brands capture their essence through photography and video in a way that feels natural, expressive, and true to them.
My photography journey began about two years ago when I started exploring the world through a professional camera lens. I was immediately captivated by the power of visuals, how light, color, and composition can transform a moment into a feeling. But looking back, I realize I’ve always been a creator at heart. From sketching and singing Bollywood tunes in front of the TV to sneaking a handycam into my hostel to make goofy videos with friends, creating has always been in my DNA.
Outside of the lens, I also write music and love crafting melodies that evoke emotion it’s another outlet where I can tell stories and channel energy.
When I work with clients, my goal is to help bring their vision to life. I focus on creating a space where people feel comfortable, seen, and confident. Energy is everything to me- I show up with good energy and intention so that each session feels collaborative, fun, and inspiring.
One of my proudest moments was a shoot I did with my friend Pranto for Tonal. It was an electric evening filled with movement, high spirits, and powerful connection. Though we shot for over four hours, the energy never dipped. Trainers were hyping each other up, customers were experiencing Tonal for the first time, and everyone was feeding off each other’s vibe. It reminded me why I love what I do, capturing the soul of a moment and turning it into something that lasts.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
One of the most rewarding parts of being an artist and creative is the freedom to express oneself. There’s something magical about watching raw footage or a rough melody evolve into something beautiful. A transformation that feels both intentional and unexpected. Sometimes, I have a clear vision of the outcome, and other times, I just follow the flow and let the process surprise me. That unpredictability, that space for discovery, is what makes creating so fulfilling.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I want to tell stories in creative ways and share good energy that resonates with people because, at the end of the day, it’s the human connection that matters most.
