We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Niloo Rostami. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Niloo below.
Hi Niloo , thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
The story of a significant risk I’ve taken revolves around a pivotal moment during the year of COVID. Like many others, the challenges of that year prompted deep reflection on the direction of my life and what truly mattered to me. Despite having obtained a master’s degree in engineering, I realized that the traditional 8-5 job path wasn’t fulfilling my sense of purpose.
I’ve always gravitated towards the safe route in life, but 2020 forced me to reassess my priorities and appreciate the value of each moment. I recognized that pursuing a career solely for financial stability wasn’t enough. I needed to find something that ignited my passion and allowed me to make a meaningful impact.
Floral designing unexpectedly emerged as my passion during the pandemic. Although I never anticipated it, I found solace and joy in creating with flowers. Stepping away from the security of my engineering education was daunting, but I knew I couldn’t ignore the call to pursue something that resonated with me on a deeper level.
Starting my own floral design business was a leap of faith, one that required sacrifices, hard work, and a willingness to learn from scratch. Despite the challenges, the journey has been incredibly rewarding. The process of turning my passion into a profession has been gradual, but every step has been worth it.
Leaving behind 12 years of academic pursuit to embark on a new path in floral artistry was undoubtedly a risk, but it’s one that I’m grateful for every day. Not only am I pursuing a career that brings me immense fulfillment, but I’m also able to provide for my family in a way that aligns with my values and passions. This journey has taught me the importance of taking risks, following my heart, and never settling for a life that doesn’t ignite my soul.
