We recently connected with Nilla Green and have shared our conversation below.
Nilla , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you share a story about the kindest thing someone has done for you and why it mattered so much or was so meaningful to you?
The kindest thing anyone has done for me is the women in my immediate family staying by my side. I lost my dad as a teen and I would not listening to anyone, wild card much lol. I had my mom and sisters on edge, with my career choices and not wanting to do anything else but music.
I made some mistakes, but I was still a good person. I was not your traditional path taker when it came to the school, college, good job route. Having them by side helped me stay in line and kept me from serious trouble. Through all that they were always there for me when I needed it. As I look back on it, they took care and looked out for me a lot.
They are truly a blessing, and extremely nice. I plan to return the favors and treat them like the queens they are.

Nilla , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was always musically inclined, like since birth. My dad bought me a kiddie music keyboard when I was young and a alto saxophone in middle school. I decided to take it to the next level, when I went to my high school friend Rob aka O.P. Supa’s house and he was making beats. I wanted to do that so bad after seeing him.
I provide a variety of musical services, from production to teaching. I can produce your whole project, doesn’t matter the genre. I can record, create, write, mix, and master your single, jingle, album and more. If you have issues trying to complete your project, whether it is, songwriting or finding a nice beat, I can solve it. I also teach people how to use their software of choice to complete songs or any other idea they may have.
I believe that I can make hits, and I will make sure that any project that I work on comes out amazing. I’m more than just beat maker. I know music. That separates me from the rest.
I’m most proud about how I can make such good music, I am truly blessed and I want to share these blessings with world. I love making music, I like doing other things, but I LOVE making music.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I remember when I was young, rapping a show when CD’s were a thing and I knew that my music and the type vibe that was at this certain venue may not gel together.
I was invited to perform at this spot and I went to the dj and gave him my performance cd. When it was my turn to perform the dj came back to me with a cracked to hell CD, I mean this cd was broken in like twenty places yo. Yes, they broke it on purpose! Luckily, I had a back up CD and they played it.
While I was performing, I could see the crowd was starting to feel it. I was on my last song and all of a sudden the music cut out half way through my track, “it was the dj cutting my song”, and you know what happened next? I finished the track acapella and people went bananas! That showed me that, you can’t stop the boy!

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
It’s never an overnight success. It does take a lot of persistence and patience with yourself and those around you.
Think of it like when you try to explain something you like but no one gets it. They don’t get it because they are not you. They can not see what you see. That’s kind of how it is to be a creative in the journey to greatness. Sometimes you’re alone in your travels and as long as you work for it and never give up, it will happen.
You will have your spouse, family, friends, who do truly care about you, not be able to see your vision. They will subconsciously try and make you take the “safe” route, if they feel its not working. Like I said, they are not you, so they can not see the fire in your eyes when it come to your creative love. Keep that in mind, and always try to find some peace.
