We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nilka Carlo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Nilka thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?

For most people, it is super hard to find or create a name for your business that describes who you are and what your business has to offer. However, it didn’t take me as long as you think to come up with mine; I’ll explain why. My husband also owns a business, and I wanted something that could somehow connect both of our businesses’ names. His car detailing shop’s name is The Showroom CCC, so I decided to take the word Show and add balloons to it, and it all made sense when I put it on paper. I fell in love with it because it is close to my husband’s business name and describes my services and mission, which is to provide a showstopper balloon decor. Show Balloons is part of me now.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

For me, as a balloon artist, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing the smile of your satisfied clients after bringing their vision to life. There is nothing like seeing the emotion a decoration can bring them. The ability to transform ordinary balloons into extraordinary sculptures brings me immense satisfaction. Each design presents a new challenge, pushing me to think outside the box and develop innovative ideas. Planning and executing these works of art fuels my creativity and keeps me on my toes. The positive reactions and appreciation from clients and spectators inspire me to continue exploring different techniques and styles to bring happiness to even more individuals through my balloon art.
I always love to go the extra mile in every decoration I do, and there is nothing more important than earning the trust and respect of your client.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

I think that having a business in itself is not an easy task, let alone having a separate career that requires me to travel full time. What drives my creative journey as a balloon artist is the sheer joy and excitement that I see in people’s faces when they witness my creations. Additionally my passion for making my business a part of my lifestyle. My husband and I have made plans for this to come in to fruition. This will consists of an opening of our ballon store that will provide other balloon artists with training, tools and supplies they will need to be successful in this business. This is my dream and I know with dedication, consistency,and passion it will come true.
